One for the fans of “Vintage” Japanese bikes!
I always enjoy a day at the auction . A great trip down memory lane and often reminds me of adventures from, what now feels like another age. I tend to focus on the bikes from the 70’s , 80’s and 90’s and there is always a lot to see . This was the Iconic Auctioneers , formerly known as Silverstone, sale at the the classic car show, held at the NEC in Birmingham, UK . The sale had over 240 bikes so there was plenty to look at , and enjoy .
A couple of small corrections. The Honda SP1 won WSB in 2000, The SP2 in 2002 and the 996R in 2001 .. I did know that . I have examples of all 3 in my garage 😂
The first Honda XL, the 250, came out in 1972…

Thanks Michael. Great video. Definatly some of the bikes that adorned my bedroom wall in childhood.
Thanks for the education and your anigdotes. I wonder what percentage of them are running
enjoyed it , thanks for sharing .
Really enjoyed this Michael, thanks.
I love this video, the great stories and nostalgia. I remember most bikes and I was expecting to see the Suzuki GT380 two stroke (a neighbour owned one of those, great bike) or an RD500 V4, RG500 which was considered the better bike. I might be slightly younger than you 😉
I started life on two wheels on a Honda ss50 and jumped on a Kawasaki Gpz750 after my national service in 84. That was possible back in those days, a bit crazy when I think about it now.
I have good memories and many fantastic stories but also a few sad ones, as quite a few friends killed themselves on bikes and I am happy/lucky that I survived my wild days. Sometimes I cringe when I see young lads riding in a certain fashion but realise that I took stupid risks as a young man.
No, it doesn't justify that kind of behaviour but we would be very boring creatures if we would have all that wisdom at that age. I love these old bikes, however, I prefer to ride my 2019 Suzuki Katana and 2022 Kawasaki Ninja Z1000SX any day. The oldies look great, love the original Kawasaki Z900 (my cousin best friend had one in that candy colour) but I give me the modern Z900RS instead please. Thanks for making this video and your stories made me chuckle like an old fool 😉
Great stuff mate . Keep them coming 👍👍👍👍
Suzuki GT: M = manual, A = automatic ?
Love this, keen to see more. Plenty of memories there!
Outstanding upload! Great info, and yes, what a joy seeing the old bikes!
Very Nice thanku Michael some lovely ol bikes there the LCs GTs and Ducati’s touching strings for sure I had a DT 125 for several yrs the thing was hard to kill and believe it or not despite having a series of jap superbikes i probably got my most enjoyment. Riding that ol yam
Seeing some of those sell of so cheap hurts being in a country where they are unobtainium.
Great video Michael, I love those old rd's
I am surprised to see that you showed all the great bikes I grew up on. I did the balls in on the tank of my DT175F black. I literally nearly killed myself on my RD400F Daytona. Had RD350LC, XT500E, XV1000RH or TR1. It was a real walk down memory lane. 40 bikes later and enjoying my Enfield Interceptor.
Another fabulous video your knowledge about all sorts of bike's is amazing. I had an RD 250 in the eighties but really it's screaming nature wasn't for me and I quickly sold it. Quick observation why have all those old bike's got proper mudguards which modern ones seem to lack.
Those Suzuki GT triples were something. The XL600 is my favourite here. Stunning. I didn't know they had tubeless tyres. I wouldn't have paid 8,500 for it, though. Nick J
The Candy Blue Elsie at 18:45 oh yes, please! Can keep your Kettles…..
it was the 77 gt750B that had the black side panels, great video!
Thank you for another great video.
were they not selling any British bikes?
Thanks for the video 👍
i came down with bad dose of the wants watching this .
Really enjoyed your video Michael 😀. Your recollections of the past are very similar to my own. We must have all led similar lives biking in the 80's! Infact looking back it's a wonder we still here 🤔😅. You shocked me when you mentioned the 255kg weight of the GS1000. I had a black with blue stripe model when I was 23 I at that time I never considered it a heavy bike 🤔, nowadays 190kg feels heavy to me 😅
What a great post, I can relate to everything you said, I have been riding for 44 years now……. Happy days
A delight to watch.. Thank you Michael..👍
