Hey guys! I know this video is a bit long but nevertheless I wanted to leave most of the clips mainly un-edited. This video is a bit of a mash-up of the last few days training at home.

    A little about Ed….
Ed is an elite cyclist, 2019 British Hill Climb Champion and former Under 23 British RR Champion. He has raced as a Continental level Professional Rider for one of the most successful British cycling teams in Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, Azerbaijan to name a few. He is also a public speaker, coach, and founded the on/offline cycling community, Backpedal. At the start of 2021, the Discord community began, and plonked many of Ed’s viewers in to a 550+ strong group of people that had many things in common. Not least wanting to explore the world and pedal their bikes faster!

Ed coaches lots of cyclists in the online community too! If you are interested, email [laverackcoaching@yahoo.com] for information on the 1-2-1 coaching package and training plans, of which there are many and flexible options to suit everyone!

Ed now prioritises having fun with my hard earned fitness and knowledge in the sport. Showcasing that maybe there is an alternative to racing for teams when you can race for yourself and your community of followers and brands. This YouTube channel is a docu-series highlighting what it’s like to be a cyclist in today’s competitive age of sport.

    1. Are you planning something similar for Nationals as you did for Whinlatter with travelling early and having a number of days to recover from the travel and give you prep time for the bike and you?

    2. Getting towards Nationals how about an assessment as to how the other contenders,,ie, Feather, Cattanach, Nichols, Bell etc, figure currently against your own results?

    3. Im on 1.5g protein per lb body weight which puts me at around 214g a day, i think its important if you are a little older (me not you😂) to raise that protein intake to try perserve as much muscle as possible

    4. Stumbled upon your videos recently when I spotted your time up my club Hillclimb (Dursley Road Club). I love hills but am unbelievably unfit at the moment after a rubbish year of not much cycling. But these videos are giving me inspiration. Good luck for the championships.

    5. Compare Ganna to Ed- complete opposites apart from them being top of the field in their specific part of Cycling. Body type/metrics are too different to be important

    6. Are you switching to rim brakes to save a few seconds compared to last year's fifth placing? All that time training through Portugal, Italy and the Lake District (and of course Wales!) that you've already done is what will count the most – awesome efforts – wishing you well for the upcoming Struggle….!

    7. Ed, i had to stop watching this at 6:55 and write this comment. PLEASE for the sake of your own saftey, please fit some bar end plugs, at least for when you are out training. I understand why your bike is stripped down into stealth mode. I am also aware you are an elite rider, with the handling skills that go with that, but the danger from not having end plugs fitted is so often ignored. In a collision or fall, that innocuous bar end impacting at force with the area of your femoral artery is a deadly weapon. My sister has an almost perfectly cylindrical whole, over a cm deep permanently remaining in her leg after a bike fall with no end plugs fitted. She survived, but had she not been on a busy London street and crashing within the site of an ambulance, things could have been so different. Look after yourself and keep those end plugs fitted, at least until the day of an event.

    8. Did a hill climb on Sunday over at Burrington, South of Bristol Ed and met Geoff Pickin (the hand cycle guy) and his wife. Nice guy, and he says everyone says, "are you the guy in Ed Laverack's video) 🤣Awesome guy though AND he's riding the National on Sunday! 😮
