    1. Spokane installed this stupid-ass traffic light for bikes last year near Gonzaga University, right next to one for cars. Before, there was only a stop sign. Now, cyclists have to get off the bike, walk to the "Walk" button, and wait for three minutes before the traffic light decides to let us go, even if theres no traffic. I always flip that light off and yell "fuck you" when I pass it.

    2. My city in the UK was designed for cycling, so the cyclepaths are either above or below the main roads and only cross car traffic at smaller housing roads that are pretty much all 30mph limit and low traffic use, it's honestly really great.

    3. Bikes are definitely better than cars but, like, I'm not into this whole "you can just go because people will watch for you" idea. It's not realistic: even in the few parts of the US that are meant for bikes people crash into each other and are sent to the hospital all the time.

    4. I ride all over complex urban environments, with a lot car traffic. Just watching this makes me nervous. I can't believe folks don't hit each other. I mean, I cannot believe this.

How many times do folks on bicycles hit each other?

    5. On the first junction, I got in an argument with a pizza delivery Guy on a moped who thought I had to give way to him, because of the Shark teeth on the street. But when all lights are green, no one has the right to get first way, as everybody is equal in that situation and you have to use awareness and common scense to pass each other in a flow. I came from the bridge on the opposite of the junction, going straight and the moped came from the right from camera’s view point. He expected me to stop when he was coming in with high speed and I cycled just further expecting him to pass me behind me. But as he was going pretty fast he almost drove straight in to me and had to fear of to the left and past in front of me. As I was feeling morally superior to him in that situation I shaked my wijsvinger towards him as in “foei!”. He thought I was giving him the middle finger and turned around, being angry at me. I said something back about green for everyone and that the shark teeth are only for cars when the lights are out and then he turned away angry.

    6. This is weird to me. But it does at least make cycling more convenient. Because they are much slower than cars. I do feel sorry for pedestrians though.

    7. The only annoying thing about these is that 99% of the time people make way for each other no problem. Only sometimes people don't. Because they are in a rush or aren't paying attention.

On these intersections the normal traffic rules apply: Right has priority and triangles on the road indicate you have to give priority for other bicycles just as for cars. But most people completely ignore the normal traffic rules on these intersections for some reason.

Now luckily, this doesn't usually result in any kind of collision, just one bike having to suddenly stop and shout at someone who isn't giving way correctly. But annoying.

    8. One of the busiest junctions in Groningen. And it work’s very well. Driving a car in Groningen is harder then cycling. Cyclists are coming from everywhere.

    9. This is fantastic! So many likes!
And yet there are those car drivers that are getting angry when they see a bicyclist going over a red light at no risk for themselves or others 🤦

    10. I've been cycling in Groningen and other Dutch cities during my studies. Don't remember a single seriously dangerous situation. Now I'm living in Munich and am almost dying at least two or three times every morning on my 15 min way to the office…

    11. Coming from Groningen, this is what I love about it. It’s so much safer and efficient. Whenever I go to other cities, i always have to look out for cars.
And also as a car driver I don’t have to worry about hitting a bicyclist
