After a prolonged trip to the Lake District I had a CRUCIAL RACE before the National Hill Climb Championships, on Whinlatter Pass. Luckily I saved something for the race!

    A little about Ed….
Ed is an elite cyclist, 2019 British Hill Climb Champion and former Under 23 British RR Champion. He has raced as a Continental level Professional Rider for one of the most successful British cycling teams in Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, Azerbaijan to name a few. He is also a public speaker, coach, and founded the on/offline cycling community, Backpedal. At the start of 2021, the Discord community began, and plonked many of Ed’s viewers in to a 550+ strong group of people that had many things in common. Not least wanting to explore the world and pedal their bikes faster!

Ed coaches lots of cyclists in the online community too! If you are interested, email [laverackcoaching@yahoo.com] for information on the 1-2-1 coaching package and training plans, of which there are many and flexible options to suit everyone!

Ed now prioritises having fun with my hard earned fitness and knowledge in the sport. Showcasing that maybe there is an alternative to racing for teams when you can race for yourself and your community of followers and brands. This YouTube channel is a docu-series highlighting what it’s like to be a cyclist in today’s competitive age of sport.

    1. Really well done Ed. You've discovered campsites and how convenient and flexible they can be. The electrical lead should be waterproof. You might want to consider a coolbox that can run off a "cigar" socket when driving and mains elec when you are camping. I know that this is serious money but you might want to add sun canopies and/or awnings to give you more "outdoor" space. I remember the days that I used to drive up to 6 hours non-stop because I wanted to get home but they will be memories now. Take care and keep well.

    2. No need for apologies Ed, it's very interesting and informative to get an idea of your mindset before a race. The commentary during the race is revealing too; very entertaining for us 'mere mortals' (joking). Your appreciation for the fans at the roadside is great to see.
I felt sorry (almost) for the riders you flew past, but that just emphasises that there's all ranges of abilities entering these races, which is a good thing.
Those wattages and the effort you put in is truly awesome. Great win which hopefully sets you up for The Struggle later in the month. This is a great series and super content; many thanks.

    3. Awesome series of videos. If you keep beating the feather I guess GCN will be asking you to do their videos where they do climbing challenges πŸ™‚

    4. Just great to watch a top rider go up the hill and explain training and race strategies. This as a 69 year old who managed to get up the pass at a snail's pace, earlier this year.

    5. Ed will be doing those famous GCN climbing videos in four weeks time , I have a strong feeling πŸ™‚ πŸ˜‰ Can not wait, to be honest, he would be much better suited in my opinion…rooting for you mate!! Good lack🀞 πŸ’ͺ

    6. Great video Ed – I got a PB too in the race – just need to knock 5+ minutes off my time to get close to yours πŸ˜‚. Brilliant riding and power πŸ’ͺπŸ‘

    7. would you ever consider doing the Nero show? i think in a sea of cycling youtubers – you have a unique story and slice of cycing to share. thanks for the vids as always

    8. Doing 450+ watts then easing off to 360 before ramping up again towards the end is definitely something I'd like to do πŸ˜€

Good job on the progress, looking forward to the culmination of this season at nationals. All the best.

    9. Nice meeting you Ed after the race at the HQ. Thanks for the photo together. See you on the Struggle. Congrats on the win. Best regards Martin

    10. I really enjoyed this video Ed. Apart from the fact you were riding in my local playground on one of my favourite climbs, it was very informative with some great tips. A great effort and result by the way. Regards David πŸ‘πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜Š

    11. Great ride Ed – phenomenal sustained power! Will you be sharing any insights on pacing for The Struggle, or are you keeping your race strategy under wraps until after the Nationals?
