Do you know what mobility poverty is? Mobility poverty refers to limited access to transportation options that disproportionately affects low-income individuals, older adults, individuals with disabilities, and those living in rural or marginalized areas, hindering their ability to meet their needs and participate fully in society. For a long time, people thought that mobility poverty was not really an issue in the Netherlands, because people thought that everyone could use a bicycle; a very cheap, healthy and easy mode of transport. Bicycle is indeed a transport mode that has the potential to empower the mobility of vulnerable groups. But, even in the Netherlands, land of bicycles, not everyone has the ability or access to cycling. This is what we call the cycling poverty. Let’s travel to the Netherlands to meet with Babet Hendriks (Mobility Poverty Expert at Mobycon) and Inez Rastovac (Project Manager Dignity at City of Tilburg) to discover how cycling can reduce mobility poverty in the Netherlands.

    1. This is clearly a fairly high budget production. Strange that, as far as I see it, the result is underwhelming!
Kaufmann uses the term access, that is really not a synonym for accessibility! Especially in a transport context using accessibilty in stead of access makes it hard to follow the reasoning! Appropriation is simply not explained! Weird 🤔
