Bikes4Ukraine – Cykler til Ukraine is a Danish non-profit that is sending used Danish bikes to Ukraine, in collaboration with the City of Lviv. Mikael Colville-Andersen, urban planner, was contacted by the City about how to design temporary bike lanes and source good, ready-to-use bikes for Ukrainians. He assembled a team of volunteers who are working on the project.
All proceeds for the fundraiser will go to sending bikes to Ukraine first – and then providing them with the tools to create temporary bikes lanes so people can cycle safely, in association with http://zicla.com in Barcelona.
Not only Lviv needs bikes. They need bikes for different reasons in places like Bucha and Kharkiv and many other cities. Cycling as transport and as a way to navigate the bombed city is so important.

Thank you for your help. I'm envious of the bike culture and infrastructure you have in Denmark. Sadly, here in Ukraine, people really love their cars. Just like Americans. Even though most grocery shopping in cities is a walkable trip, not even saying about cycling. It takes 15 minutes to get anywhere in my city of 300K citizens, but we don't have any infrastructure and cyclists like me, are outcasts with a death wish. I'm hoping for the change and for people like you Mikael to help bring that change.
