Lessons Learnt After Cycling In Italy.

Welcome to the bicycle diaries and welcome back to the UK!

A few days ago I was cycling over in Tuscany on an e bike. We covered around 400kms and climbed around 8000 metres. As you can probably imagine, now that I am back home in the UK and riding a standard road bike without a motor, I have benefitted from my time out in Italy.

    1. For me enjoying my cycling very much includes the hard work and the sense of well-being and accomplishment that accompanies it. So, probably won't be getting an e-bike, but don't begrudge those who prefer them.

    2. glad u had a great trip, here in Australia we have those dam westerly's around 30 k and makes for hard going into as a big 115 kg guy ,but i did a PB 70k ride on Monday in training for 100k on the 10th oct for kids cancer challenge, dont care how long it takes ,long as i finish

    3. riding on flats on E-Bike without motor. I dont know about road ebike but I guessing probably the same mountain E-Bike is on average 10Kgs heavier than standard

    4. Keep it up! I had a regular bike and lost 60 lbs. bought an ebike, lost another 15! I now ride 2 electric unicycles and still lost another 10 pounds. If u keep looking for adventures on your ebike or just replace car w it and enjoy us enjoying the rest of our lives

    5. As far as I'm concerned, Captain Buzzkill can go do one and if the more elite/athletic riders want to look down their noses at E-Bikes, then that's their problem not ours! With E-Bikes like my Canyon Grail:ON, you have the best of both worlds. If you wish to go out and bust a gut (or risk a heart attack) then you can, but if you want to have a more relaxing ride, then you can do that as well! It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Well done Leonard, keep em' coming mate 🙂

    6. Great series Leonard. Truly enjoyed every minute of it and all of your hard work in preparation paid off.you look much fitter and trimmer. Thanks for all of the great entertainment. Btw…. I have an e assist on one of my Catrikes and it is used in less than 5% of the time I use that cycle. Only into the craziest winds or up the wildest inclines. I avoid it as I feel a great deal more satisfaction suffering through the tough legs of a ride and completing it on my own.

    7. I have been following you for a while now, and being in similar shape and having struggled for the past months now on trying to get a little faster while carrying all of this weight, I decided that it is time to lose weight. I have set a goal for the next six months to leave behind 10-15 Kgs at least. And yes, I have also an e-bike which is absolutely a blessing for some of the locals climbs, and while it helps with the uphills, it doesn't drive by itself. Thanks Leonardo da Force for the weekly inspirations

    8. I enjoy your videos Leonard. They are a real encouragement to get out of the office and ride. I ride an eBike and I love it. There is not a hill that I have met where I do no use my engine and I can tell that my fitness has improved. But, at 65 I’m not looking to ride the TdF. Keep riding and may the wind always be at your back.

    9. Loved my cycling when in my teens then I got into motorcycles now at 67 I got my self a ebike loving it my main transport now my poor motorcycle as I live near a canal which I love to ride thought I would buy a fat bike what was I thinking lol hard work . But really I love it slow yes bit when you hit the rough things smooth out. hopefully between my two bikes I will build up my fitness because I have a bad should my weight training has been taking a back seat.

    10. Hi Leonard, The bike you rode in Italy, were the brakes setup to Euro or UK standard? If they were Euro how did you get on with the change?

    11. It shows that you can ride a E bike and get fit at the same time great video keep up the good work 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

    12. Thank you for your videos

As someone who’s let themselves go over the years and now trying to rekindle my love of cycling from my youth I find them a great source of information

A question around your cycling clothing having had a look at the Godfrey Sports website; do the various items stretch? For example where the XXL size for a cycling jersey fits 38” waist will it stretch to 42-44”

I bought cycling bib shorts elsewhere and was worried about the fit but they actually stretch

      Thank you
