Answering your questions about why I sold everything and moved to Spain 5 years ago, and why I haven’t looked back since.

I also bump into and have a chat with pro cyclist for Team Bike Exchange Jayco, Luke Durbridge, about his favourite place to ride in Europe, and answer other questions about training, lifestyle, sport outside of cycling and more…

This video was filmed while riding between Andorra, a small country and cycling mecca in the Pyrenees that is home to professional cyclists such as Julian Alaphilippe, Ben O’Connor, Tom Pidcock, Jai Hindley, Luke Durbridge, James Knox, Mark Donovan, Esteban Chaves, Paddy Bevin, Jack Haig, Enric Mas, Sepp Kuss, Mike Woods, Robert Gesink and others, and Girona, Spain, where I now call home. Girona is the ideal training playground for cycling holidays and pro cyclists training for races such as the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, Criterium du Dauphine, Tour of Romandie, and more. Teams such as INEOS-Grenadiers, Israel-Premier Tech, Human Powered Health, Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team, UAE Team Emirates and others use both Andorra and Girona for team training camps and rider testing.

  1. I don`t think you will remember this, but I once was in Girona on vacation with a group of brazilians and you were our local guide from TSC. At some point I asked you what you were doing in Spain and your whole story motivated me to quit me 9 to 5 corporate job (of course there were other things going on and other cards on the table) and open my own bike shop in Brazil to try to make my hobby my job. 2 years have passed since I opened my bike shop and it has been a blast so far. Keep motivating people!

  2. Great video. Have you spent much time in Melbourne? From spending some time there, and hearing from others its got a pretty big community and quite different to Sydney in attitude towards cycling.

  3. Great content, man. The wife and I spent 4 months in Spain last year (Girona, Barcelona, and Mojacar down south)…coming back to Girona in October for a couple weeks to 'validate that this is our next move'…would love to buy you a coffee or go for a ride to hear your thoughts on some logistical things that you went through. Cheers and keep the content coming

  4. Great video. It's a real pity with the attitude of many Australians towards cyclists, that is for sure. If Aussies treated the football fans like that I wonder how they would like it.

  5. I moved to Extremadura, and the roads are incredibly quiet and I love the tranquility here. Also very handy for Portugal. Strangest mental adjustment I had for cycle journeys was from miles to kilometres, after the UK. La Vuelta passes through here end of this week.

  6. Thank you so much for this video! And for so many others. Like you, I dropped everything, sold everything in California, and moved to Spain almost six years ago to the day today. In my case, Ronda, Andalucia. I only took up cycling once I got here, and it has proved to be the best and fastest way to make friends and enjoy the gorgeous area around here. Unfortunately, I crashed three months ago and broke the neck of my femur. I have a new hip even though I'm too young for one! Like some of your other fans, I watch your videos for inspiration. Especially now that I am having to start all over again. Especially love those with Ben O'Connor–I'm a huge fan of his. As you know, the Vuelta came through here a few days ago, and the only picture I managed to get was one of him up on the stage before the race. Love Girona and go there quite a lot. Again, thank you for your great videos. Let us know if you're ever in Malaga Province. Or California.

  7. Blast! I thought Americans were bad to cyclists. Man, sorry hear that about Australia. It's great it worked out for you moving to Europe. Keep on keeping on.

  8. loved to see your video mate, at least you remind me again to live based on my need, joined with some of the cycling club is nice, but sometimes we didn't realise that we get into toxic environment, where everything that "not up to date" become something weird. That's why most of the time I loved cycling alone or with someone with "not so up to date" mindset in terms of cycling, at least we could enjoy the ride, and talking about life. But I don't want to judge those cycling club are toxic in general, maybe those people are rich, so money doesn't matter for them, maybe it is better to join with people with the same frequency, so we can enjoy our cycling hobby.

  9. Very happy and jealous of you. 🥰

But people, here’s a quick reality check. Most of us don’t have a passive income sufficient enough to simply move to Girona. Lol
I mean, Tristan rode a sweet Madone at that young of an age in which most of us don’t have that privilege. Hahaha.
Today he rides that BMC in which again, most of us can barely afford.

Though, it’s not wrong to dream that one day we’ll make it. 😇
Keep up the great work, Tristan!

  10. Nice video! I did the same thing: moved to Austria, summer = alpine cycling, winter = skiing. Best decision I've made.

    Keep up the great content.

  11. If you love what you do you and you get paid to do it, you won’t see it as a job.. Find your passion !! Live your dreams 🕺
Do the work, (meditate or set time aside to think about what you really want out of life ) ( find your why )
You’ve inspired me to visit Gerona and Andorra .. Turbo – Durbo – what’s in the water in Perth 😳😂

  12. Cant join u as l have elderly parents. Love the roads . Roads in Australia r absolutely pathetic & we have our numb nut government sending in excess of a billion dollars 2 Ukraine. Scenery looks just fabulous Tristan

  13. Funny, I’m standing on the beach at Kirra while I watch this and I’ve been a ski tragic since 1994.
Tell me you play guitar and we are brothers.
