  1. Breslau is getting pretty good with bicycle lines too. Still trams are best form of transport there. Especially with new big investments in tram infrastructure.

  2. Not in Germany, but Pardubice in the Czech Republic is also really convenient to use a bicycle. For my whole life, I didn't need my mom to take me to school by car. Elementary school is 5 minutes on foot (and that's me living on the outskirts) and secondary school is just 3 km. Perfect for a nice 30-minute walk or 10-minute commute via bicycle when I'm short on time.

  3. I life in Dresden as far it goes here trams are my commuting vehicle and a bick/ e-scooter for rides into areas without connection to trams. I still have the problem that about 3 min away from my apartment is a 2 lane road which high vehicle passing and no traffic light ore a predation crossing. soo yea that city still sucks in some parts

  4. 7:53, well thats the flag of the former german empire, that ended in WW1, years before the start of nazi germany. I know they are probably still conservatives, but it's completely different from people suporting nazism. I hope that you just saying a german imperial flag is a nazi flag was just a mistake.

  5. Stil the politicians too afraid and hesitant to move forward. Live in the Cities is so much better without cars.
At same time regulations for PEV sucks in Germany (and other European countries). Cargo bikes are limited to 250w, far too low if fully loaded going in an inclination. Limiting the use of the cargo bikes significantly. Fast e-bikes are prohibited to use the bicycle lines.
EUC‘s (Electrical Unicycles) are completely banned. Also this type of electrical vehicle doesn’t need public parking places and blends in perfectly in a bicycle designed city.
We missing out on the future of transportations because of stupidity and cluelessness of our politicians, especially the position of the German minister for transportation it is a standard to give it to complete disinterested incompetent persons.

  6. I usually love the analyses by all the bike and city design channels, but the trashing of the protesters in this video made me a bit angry. Those are residents that live or work in the city and they protest against a reduction of their needed parking spots. I'm sad how heartless you comment on them and denounce them as snowflakes, it doesn't push a friendly exchange of arguments. I'm 100% pro bikes but if bike people are also starting to get this annoying 21st century attitude, like "deal with it, this is modern times, you snowflakes", then I'm out… Why can't this world be friendly 🙁

  7. When I visited Vienna, I was surprised how good the city was for bikes. It was actually faster to cycle through the city than going by subway, not to mention that cars around the centre were bullied as they should be. Almost felt sorry for the drivers. (till I realised I didn't)

  8. Not really bike friendly, but Louvain-la-Neuve in belgium has the majority of its space fully for pedestrians while cars are relegated to underground parking spaces and underpasses

For a Moment I got excited, because I thought that this particular loud, filthy, depressing, urban Motorway is the one in my specific City, but then I remembered that these borderline Lovecraftian Non-spaces all look about the same no Matter which Große Kleinstadt or Kleine Großstadt you're in.

Anyway, you should totally check out the "Ludwigshafen am Rhein" Hauptbahnhof and Tram System. The best description I can come up with for it is: "Pure Kafkaesque".
You'd have a horrible kind of fun there. :'D

  10. I live in the UK, but my family comes from Bavaria. I cannot tell you how often I accidentally walk into a bike path when on the pavement whn visiting München (Munich)…

  11. It's easy to rival Amsterdam, which is probably the worst city in the Netherlands for cyclists.

  12. Good fun, great vid, lovely city! Please visit the schizophrenic nightmare of biking in Brisbane one day. I'm sure you will be amused.

  13. Me: sees title "Is this about Münster?"
Me: starts video "I can't wait to see if it's about Münster"
    Video: "…Leipzig"
    Me: O:

  14. I live in Leipzig and the area where you had your coffee is my neighbourhood. I use a lot of the streets you were on for my daily commute by foot or bike. But I actually don't like taking the bike for longer rides through the city because, as you said, a lot of areas are still very car-centric and you often have to mix with car traffic or tram lines. I think there is still a lot of work to be done but things are going in the right direction.
