    1. Wearing a helmet also gives us Dutchies a false sence of safety. By not wearing a helmet on a regular bike (on e-bikes and sportsbikes people do wear a helmet because of higher speeds) we kinda force ourselves to watch out, to behave normally in traffic and not to do something iradically. And because nearly every cardriver is a biker also they tend to obey the safetyrules for bikers and other roadusers.

    2. 2 things to say about the rules at 12.04 this is a law an at 12.15 we cal it sharkteeth it is not for stopping if the way is clear you can cross the road with out stopping

    3. Because we grew up cycling, and because it is very expensive to own a car. Gasoline and diesel are also very expensive, and it is in some cities impossible to park your car nearby for a reasonable price. When it comes to owning a car, I am really jealous of all these countries where cars are still affordable and where it does not cost a fortune to park or to buy gasoline.

    4. It is the law indeed bike riders are vulnerable so they get the advantage. Now with the camera's and such if you can prove it was reckless biking you may get cleared otherwise you will have to pay. What you say bikers taking advantage off that, never seen it happen. Dutch don't seem to be stupid to purposely want to get run over. I mean auw, Charlie! hahaha

    5. I think the reason not to wear a helmet is: if you fall from an upright bicycle, you rarely hit your head first, but the first blow is often on your shoulders and arms. With sports bikes (which are often ridden in other countries), the head often hits the ground first because the rider cycles more forward. A second reason may be that wearing a helmet gives you a false sense of safety and therefore you may communicate less with other road users. This lady from the video didn't do her homework enough, she didn't check what she was told was true.

    6. Yes, always. The law is kinda like the smaller you are (for example car vs bike) the more leverage you have. So if you would run a red light on your bike and a car hits you it's still the cars' fault. Because the impact of being hit by a car while being on a bike could mean death, while the other way around (a bike hitting a car) would probably mean some scratches to the car and still serious injury to the cyclist. BTW fuck cars, I think they should be banned inside of city limits.

    7. she misinterpeted the rule about the arrows on the pavement.
A they arent just for bicicles they are for all roadusers.
B she did not break the rules, u dont have to stop if there is no other trafic…thats just dumb.(like stopsigns in america X D)
also the thing about having to walk your bike across the road is nonsence, there is no such rule.
her' it seems like they dont always follow there own rules triggered me so bad.

    8. You only need to stop for other traffic when the triangles are pointed your way ,and you dont have to get of your bike to cross the street ,no idea where she got that from.
Looking forward to your gaming channel brother!

    9. On standard intentionally cappy bikes:
      1) Your locks will probably be the most expensive thing on it.
      2) When you park your bike in a not at home situation, you look for a bike with cheaper lock to park next to so if and when, the other bike will get stolen.
      3) When going on a date, you will still use your crappy bike, as will your date,. there is no shame in it. Howeevr, having your bike stolen while on a date is not a good image.
      4) Most crappy bikes are structurally strong enough where it counts to transporting your date on the luggage carrier and when he or she is without a bike. (Some modern bikes have ridiculously low weight tolerances for the luggage carriers.)
      5) There usually is no issue or shame when the guy is the passenger for the girl. Also grabbing hold onto your girl (while on a bike) has definite advantages ๐Ÿ™‚.

    10. Americans have such a hard time understanding that people living in other countries can CHOOSE to use public transport or bikes by themselves. They seem to believe that people would only do that because they are too poor to aford a car, probably because that's how most Americans think.

I don't know about the Netherland, but in France, if you have some economical difficulties and you need a driver licence, you can get financial help from the state so you can afford it. I suppose the Netherlands have similar helps. I'm pretty sure that almost all those adults could drive car if they wanted to.

I could affor a very nice car but I choose to use a bike instead because it's more convenient where I live. My colleages who use cars take more time to travel the same distance. It also allows me to stay phisically fit and it gives me some time to think and decompress.

    11. the reason we have mandatory driving lessons is so that everyone can learn to drive properly. not because the Dutch are bad at driving, but to improve safety, in the United States and many States you learn to drive from your parents. If your parents already drive badly, then you also learn to drive badly. action is reaction

    12. On bike accidents:
While hitting and damaging you r skull is dramatic and a helmet ma help there, a great many accidents do not even involve anytinhg near the head. My last two accidents involved slippery roads and an uncontrolled brake reflex. These involved slipping and hurting knees and hops while the head was never near anything hittable. Other serous incidents involved hitting a raised border while leaving a curve resulting in a sprained and maybe broken little toe. A helmet would not have protected that toe. So as from my personal experience, while a helmet may help somewhat in alleviating a head injury, for many accidents a head injury is on average not even in the picture. So for me, apparent risk compared to expected danger does not gravitate me to the need for a helmet.
Sports involving bikes may of course paint a whole different picture with totally different risks.

    13. 13:30 there was an article in the news paper that said 75% of the people on bikes do not follow traffic rules because peoples on bikes are inferior drivers so always have the right of way.
