    1. "Fake London" refers to London, Ontario, Canada where the creator of this video grew up and lived before he and his family moved to Amsterdam.

The higher the rate of university students to total inhabitants is (in Germany) the more likely the cities have good public transport and cycling infrastructure, are pedestrian-friendly, and hostile to individual car traffic. Another famous example is Münster.

    2. Oh yeah the towns center is very nice. Was there the last time in 2021.
But in general The Netherlands are way ahead of us in terms of bicycles.

    3. Was born and went to school in Freiburg, love to see the appreciation my home town gets. The good connection with the public transport makes it also a very good place to be a teen in, meeting up with friends, going on dates etc you can do completely independent. When I was a Highschool student there was the regio card for students, which cost around 25 (?) € per month and you could use any public transport as often you wanted from the Swiss border in the south up to Offenburg (50km from Freiburg) in the north. Since this year it has been replaced with a subsidized Deutschlandticket for 30€ per month which permits you to use every(!!!) public transport in Germany. So you now see lots of teens using this ticket to go to festivals or visit concerts. The only downside to Freiburg in my eyes is, it is just so very much off the map for most things. Very few international artist come to Freiburg, the Art and Culture scene is still very small and there are very few museums in town, that are bigger than two or three rooms. Compounding this is the fact that Freiburg is the only city in the region, the next bigger cities are Karlsruhe in the north (ca 100km) or Basel in Switzerland (which could mean run ins with the Swiss border protection which is never pleasant and everything is much more expensive there) and both of them suffer from the same problem as Freiburg that they both are not what you would call metropolitan by any stretch of the meaning. Also whilst Freiburg is very progressive the sorrounding towns and villages are most definitely not, if Germany has something comparable to Rednecks, this is one of the places where you might find them. I love my home region, and whenever i visit my parents, as soon as the Blackforest comes into view from the train, my heart beats higher, but as a queer person I would never move back to the villages I grew up in.

    4. City centers full of cars are just so ugly… we have to rethink and get car traffic out of the cities… not just in Freiburg but everywhere.
