Riding a bike in Croatia…
Well, not a great start, due to language issues, me being a “road” rider became I “rode” a bike and somehow ended up with a mountain bike! Not to be held back my Brother and I hit the coast roads in Croatia around the stunning historic town of Pula on the Dalmation coast.
The good thing about riding in Croatia is the views and the setting – Roman ruins abound, Austro Hungarian buildings are impressive and the weather is excellent.
The bad thing is the traffic – very busy with lots of car and trucks.
The ugly is everything to do with the mountain bike – heavy, slow, draggy and ugly to look at, plus not a good ride on the road.

This trip and video was made in memory of my Brothers wife and dear friend who just loved Pula – cancer sucks…

    1. Oh Dan that’s a seriously ugly bike, but you got a ride out of it. It’s good too to be made aware of how many people have to struggle around with an unsuitable machine. Nice to see Pula, I have happy memories of Croatia. Thank you.

    2. I went to Marbella once and called ahead to get a bike delivered, 52-54cm, suitable for the mountainous terrain. They sent a ladies 6 speed shopping bike! So, not to be detered, I cycled up an 8.4% 11km 1100m climb and when I finally got to the top, there was two ladies in their 70's eating walnuts sitting next to similar bikes. Guess the shop got it right!

    3. I have been experimenting with different bike set ups lately. On my own terms admittedly. And it made me appreciate my light road bikes even more. Love your attitude Dan.
