    the UK by bicycle – a 1,000 mile journey from south to north [French subtitles]



    July 30th, 2022. I leave from France with a childhood dream: going north! French and English subtitles available.
    Gear: a second-hand bicycle from the 90s, a compass, sleeping & cooking gear… No phone, no GPS.

      Thats simply beautyful. You are so blessed to go through this rollercoaster of emotions on your trip to make a dream to come true. England looked so dangerous and the roadchoice was not the best. getting fast forward can be necessary and the freedom without a smartphone can be so rewarding but to take hidden roads and tracks shown on you mobile can take you forward safely. I am glad you made it alive. Scotland was amazing and after all that traffic in the south really a relief. Your Specialized Hard rock is such a reliable partner, its a forgotten and despised treasure, never let it down and always put new parts on it and you become friends for life.       What a fantastic and inspirational video you have made and I am embarassed to say you have seen more of Scotland than I have even though I have lived in England all my life (62 years) and I have now subscribed to your channel as I have enjoyed it so much

      Yes that was the way we travelled in the 80s and the 90s! We did not even know what a smart phone was, never mind GPS. If you wanted to stay at a youth hostel you turned up, joined the queue waiting and hoped they'd have space for you, you wanted to stay in a B&B you cycled to the nearest tourist office in the morning before beginning your ride and they'd find and book one for you or you just knocked on doors and hoped you'd find one within 10kms in the evening.

      In 1988 my wife and I were in Scotland. And for some reason Scotland was very popular that summer – B&Bs, hostels, camping etc.. no chance everything was full so the police were allowing people to sleep in their jail cells, on camp on their lawns, use their toilettes etc…. But it was great fun.

      Je viens de regarder quelques vidéos sur ta chaine:la Grèce,le Ventoux et ce voyage….En tant que prof d'anglais à la retraite passionné de vélo , je viens de passer un très agréable moment. Ne pas prévoir à l'avance et parler avec les gens rendent tes voyages humains Ta joie de vivre transpire .Merci et surtout continue de pédaler !
