About the Series:
Fjord Norway has been a tourism hotspot for over 100 years. People have documented some of the famous climbs like Trollstigen and Dalsnibba. However, no one has ever documented the whole journey from the northern fjords to the sandy beaches of the south coast. I’m about to show you for the first time the whole of Fjord Norway by bike. With 25000 meters of climbing and several mountain passes to navigate I strongly believe there is nowhere else on the planet like this. Perhaps one day you will want to take on this challenge yourself? Is this the world’s most beautiful ride?

Ep.1: The Journey begins in warm and sunny Oppdal on the edge of Fjord Norway. Straight away we are blessed with incredible views of towering vertical mountains all the way down Sunndalen valley. However, with high mountains comes ever-changing weather. As we start to climb up to 1000m things start to turn…

  1. Great as allways! My wife started watching along a few videos ago, and loves your calm voice 🙂 Will you post your exact route somewhere?

  2. Been binge watching your videos recently and you are fast becoming my favourite cycling channel. Those views, omg. It's been a dream of mine to visit Norway with my bike for a while. I have a friend in Oslo who may just have to act as base camp one day.

  3. On July 29 this year, after descending the Vistdalsheia into Eresfjord, I looked to the right towards Eikesdalen. The mountains were completely covered in dark clouds. That's why I decided not to cycle the Aursjovegen. I ended the day soaking wet in Oppdal. Thanks for bringing back that memory and for showing us the Aursjovegen.

  4. Absolutely stunning. An incredible ride and beautifully narrated and edited. I'd love to do this ride but question if I'd be fit enough. I recently completed the Mae Hong Son Loop here in Thailand. I rode with a traditional touring set-up that consisted of 600 km with 10,000 metres of climbing with plenty of climbs of 1,000 metres with steep gradients. However, that took me 14 days, including three rest days. Realistically I think much over 1,200 metres of climbing and 100 km a day would be too much for me. With those kinds of limitations do you think it's possible to do this ride over something like four weeks and still have sufficient places to stay/set up camp? I'd really appreciate your opinion on this as after watching your video I now want to do this ride next year in the summer. Thanks Matthew. JP the old guy… but still giving it a go!

  5. Hi Matthew, thank you for another beautiful experience. My wife and I have been waiting for Norway to open up to USA travelers since the pandemic started. We will tour the arctic coast via bicycle as soon as possible. Thank you for all your help and suggestion through your excellent videos. Take care and all the best, Steve & Jan

  6. Hi Matthew! Ive been looking to do more or less the same route as you. Ive been planning for i while but i havent got the best rodes for each step of the ride. Do you have like a GPX file of your route or could i maybe get in contact with you on email or some other social media to get some information?

  7. An amazing adventure. This truly is some of the best scenery in the world. The joy you are experiencing really comes through. Your interesting commentary effortlessly keeps the attention of the viewer. This looks a great journey to follow.

  8. What a fantastic episode! You had me laughing out loud a couple of times, and I think I agree with you, the world's most beautiful ride. Can't wait for the other episodes.

  9. seen this video few days ago and after getting my holiday sorted i end up today buying tickets in norway) now when i have a destination and big motivation i need just a route) do you have by any chance the route saved as a file?)

  10. I just got this channel suggested by youtube when watching some GCN-videoes. I found those to be quite good, but I mean this is outstanding quality Matthew. And so few subscribers! Do you usually work for National Geographic or what🙂? Thank you so much for sharing this on you tube, just for all us to see, for free, actually.. Are you doing all this and riding all alone or have a partner on the way that we don't see?

  11. Brother, I salute you! You have combined wonderful adventure with striking videography—two impressive efforts in their own—and made a masterpiece. Thank you.

  12. Hey Matthew! I want do this trip in the beginning of september and would love to have a gpx of the route. Is there some way to download it?
Edit: Replacement bus from Oslo to Oppdal. Seems like I can't get my bike there until the 5th of September. Is it possible (harder/easier) to go from Stavanger up to Oppdal?

  13. This hooked me up and definately wanna do this ride in 2024. Would you say, it's better going from north to south, or do you think the other direction would be equally good?
I rode in norway this year the first time ever, during a round trip, but only did Kristiansand to Sandefjord. And that already blew my mind

  14. Hi. I tryed to rech you by e-mail and Instagram 🙂 but I guess it is just business pages. I really need an advice about which part to take to get most of Norway… I'm lost actually. An advice? Anyone? 🙂
