I'm English and have lived in England all my life but I love watching videos like this were you appreciate our country. It's good to see a person seeing everything for the first time.
Thanks for the vid, Mike. Nice to see someone with a sensible set up with your packing. Truly hope you enjoyed your visit. I' sure we were glad to have you. We're a small country but pride ourselves on the tremendous variety of landscape and the towns and buildings, new and ancient and all in between. Am going on to watch 2 & 3 and am enjoying every minute of it. Best wishes across the pond.
Just wondered what you did for batteries? In terms of the GoPro or other "Action Camera". Did you have many spares or purely relying on power at the overnight points? Maybe invested in solar power bank, etc. Did you use phone navigation or app to plan the route, etc. Looking at doing a few multi-day cycles on the MTB soon but dont know what to pack in terms of kit. Any advice?
Some locked gates have narrow slits to allow cycles through but stop off-road motorcyclists abusing the path. However these stop access for parents with pushchairs (strollers) who then need to lift them over the obstacle. It's also impossible for wheelchair and mobility scooter access.
This is a great video and looking forward to watching the rest of your series and a few more of your films on your channel. I’d be interested to see your camping set up at some point which I’m hoping you’ll do. Anyway you’ve earned a new subscriber. 👍👍
I’ve got mixed feelings about these ex-railway routes. Safety wise they’re great… but so flat, fast and featureless it’s like a motorway- I get bored 😐
Great video Mike. The Custodian of the National Cycle Network is the charity Sustrans. The signage on the network is partially looked after by the local councils (metal signs) and by Sustrans Rangers who are volunteers. Most of the issues you met on your trip are with vegetation management but as a ranger myself we are always out on the network looking to sort out problems and improve the signage.
Great video, crazy that I'm watching an American video too find out about a cycle route in my own country! Possibly going to be doing this in a couple of months from West London to South Wales
Just got started cycling and am considering cycle touring. Does the airline let you leave your bike shipping box at the airport while you tour around or do you have to buy a new box to come home?
Great video buddy, hopefully enjoyed the stay in the U K, at the start of the vodeo, where you was standing on the other side of the road on the same side of the river you was, is the official home of the head of the church of england.

One of the best touring vlogs I've seen. You even managed to include some rain, Ha, Ha. Excellent work mate. Keep them coming.
Glad you enjoyed England so much, most clips show you praising my beloved country. Next time you cycle through here again, look us up
The signs are by courtesy of Sustrans (sustainable transport) and yes they can be difficult to spot at times, excellent video by the way.
Great video. I'm jealous of your trip!

Nice video Mike, make me realise how much I miss cycle touring. Hopefully we'll soon go back to hit the road.
Re assemble bike at heathrow airport.
What did you do with the box?
@09.59, there is an earth mound in the field with a tree next to it, it is the remains of a Norman motte and baily castle from the 11 century.
