Week 1 of our cycle tour from Lisbon, Portugal to Budapest, Hungary. We tried our best to follow the Eurovelo Route 1 up the Atlantic Coastline of Portugal June 11th-20th . The Eurovelo route description was awful and obviously created without actually riding the course. Even though most of the route was very difficult in terms of route finding, road conditions, and hills, it was also a ride filled with charming villages, great camping, and beautiful vistas. North of Porto our route overlapped with the Camino Portuguese with pilgrims headed to Santiago de Compostelo.
