We really ought to have a better demonym for competitive/recreational/sports cyclists than just "cyclist". To me, "cyclist" just refers to anyone who uses/rides a bike. It sucks when regular cyclists ("commuters") are conflated with sports cyclists, the latter really gives every other bike users a bad name.

spirit of speed is on everyone. you come to southeast asia or parts in middle asia you will see people riding fast on commuting motorcycles more ofthen than those who actual ride a sport motorcycle. people would adapt things to their want. not many adapt themselves to things. and that is one problem people keep on dying on road accident.
