How is a carbon fibre road bike made? Well, look no further… GCN takes a look around the LOOK Cycle headquarters in France and their production facility in Tunisia, to get a thorough insight into the manufacture of carbon fiber road bikes.

    1. Your first sentence is a joke. Carbon bikes are junk and expensive. There are so many alloys that are better for bikes frames. Carbon fiber is just another fad.

    2. In a world turning to automation and robots it is amazing to see people still doing this kind of work – and almost all the skilled workers seem to be women.
They have to make these in a country with low labor costs – in the USA these frames would cost a million $ each to make.

    6. I'm so sick of 19 pounds with carbon. things should be interesting and I know why it's not being done with graphene and it's because of carbon sales will die almost immediately

    7. This is a fascinating look into the workings of the LOOK factory in Indonesia as well as the design and testing facility in France. However – I would be very interested in learning more about the dangers of carbon fiber dust (as there appears to be quite a lot created during the machining steps) and whether and how these dangers are mitigated (use of masks, filters, eye-wear, etc.) so that workers are protected. From all appearances there is little in the way of worker protective gear being employed!

    8. can help but notice that none of these workers are wearing breathing mask despite the fact that both carbonfiber dust and resin are highly toxic

    9. As fascinating as this was, it makes me want to ditch my carbon bike for a hand built titanium or steel frame. I like the hand built aspect of metal bikes vs carbon. Both beautiful, but I like the craftsmanship required for metal frames.

    10. Which (widely available in Europe) grease shall I use to assembly Token Ninja screwed press fit BB in the carbon fibre frame made by Storck (Aernario Pro G1)???

    11. Sorry, had to stop watchingn after 5 minutes. The presenter is such a ponce – how long does he stare at himself in the mirror

    12. Spent about 500 miles on it and so far so good. https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA Pros:1. Very light2. Solid quality build3. Fast delivery: It arrived 5 weeks earlier than expected.4. Easy assemblyJust a few cons but nothing major:1. Cheap tin tubes and had flat on first day… but not a big deal. I replaced the tubes.2. Seat is a bit uncomfortable but that's pretty much the same situation with most bikes.3. Seat post is a bit long/high for a smaller size 48 bike – had to saw 2 inch off to fit properly. The lowest setting is too high. The post locking system does not seem to hold well (perhaps because I saw 2 inch off).4. wheels are not tubeless compatible (from what I can tell)

    13. Just wondering since top end carbon frames takes so much effort, time and cost to build. Why are the carbon frame builders not getting the recognitions compare to a metal frame builder? I still have a vintage Dean frame hand build in the U.S signed off and credit to the frame builder.

    14. Oooh this kind of bicycle materials made it so complicated.

It is very important to have the Legitimate Manufacturers in this kind of materials for safety reasons.

I hope it can help and benefits our EcoSystem.

    15. 40 years ago, my roommate was working in an aerospace test and development lab. He came home all excited about this new material, "carbon fiber," and told me how it was going to change everything. He was right. Thanks for the tour of the exact process for bikes. I have been wondering about it for a long time. 👍
