Ciro trail, is a narrow gauge (76 cm) railway route, built in the late 19th to early of 20th century during the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, which ruled on the area of Bosnia & Herzegovina that period. It was built primarily for military purposes to connect the southern Adriatic ports with cities in the hinterland.

Its length is 148 km and passes through the cities of Mostar, Trebinje, Dubrovnik, Konavle (Croatia) and many more small villages. The first Ciro passed this railway on 15th July 1901 and stopped working on 1976.

Nowdays, the Ciro trail network has been converted into a bicycle route in order to preserve the railway route as a historical heritage and introduce a new touristic model.

The route has a mixed terrain of gravel and tarmac sections and is totally worth to visit. For more informations, maps, photos etc. you can visit the below website that is really helpful.
