    1. I’ve been living in Paris area for 13 years. I had to give up with bicycle because it’s become too dangerous. Lanes often cross sidewalks or run beside bus paths, the architecture of current network isn’t safe at all. But the worst trouble is riders themselves, they run fast, skip traffic lights, behave like they were running the Mans 24h race on their two wheels. A real nightmare…

    2. You have put together a fascinating and informative piece. Have you considered doing a follow up in the coming years? I hope you will because your “big picture” approach is much needed for such an issue.

    3. 35 years a 6 year Dutch girl cycled
to elementary 5 days a week. Was it raining? Raincoat on. The car was only used in dangerous weather. The same girl cycles now to work 2,3 times a week. My office has more parking for bikes then for Cars.

    4. We are back in our cars we havent learnt anything what a shame, all the excuses people love to make just to not cycle. But i'll be cycling on the road in the winter. But where I live no cycle infrastructure in #Omagh as the council dont care.

    5. My god that cab driver 'traditional way' 'new modes of transport'. Bikes are older than cars and have worked for more than one hundered years

    6. In the near futur cars and all other motorized vehicles are going to be "clean" (Electric and/or H2) so the futur infrastructure needs to take care of all sort of sustainable transport. It is going to be mix of sustainable transport solutions e bikes included.

    7. that milan thing is really stupid imo. they mixed the order to have the lanes, you don't put traffic next to bikes then the parking in the next lane over, you put traffic and parking close, and the bikes in the next lane, not only it's safer for bikes since there is actually something in between cars and bikes that is not a painted line on the road, and it's better for cars that have to park without risking to drive over bikes

    8. It will be great now I can ride my donkey on the streets oh how much he loves to walk with the Bicycle riders they don’t pollute the air like cars one day I will have a cargo donkey seriously 😐

    9. Really funny some car drivers are so upset about bike lanes appearing in the fear that cars will have space taken away when the entire mobility infrastructure of most cities is designed solely around them.

    10. Bikes are a pain in the butt! Only single people can utilize them. What is needed are 'People Movers' .Trains. Subways. A rail system. These rail systems should be ran on Electric or kind of fuel that does not pulute the air. Bikes are now clogging traffic

    11. How about a colder countries that you can't ride safe through most of the year.

It's not about old mentality politicians. People will vote with their feets. Also will vote for politicians. No revolution but evolution is needed. I really do not take the " now or never" argument. It is a false choice.

    12. Amazing how the world tries to copy a nation that has no choise but to use bicycles because of the density of people, and is perfectly suited for bicycles with its flat geography and mild winters. Should we also start building massive ocean walls just because it is so nice?

    13. I think the pandemic has really highlighted the effects of atomization of society and cycling is a way to somewhat remedy that. They also are cheaper which is good with the increasingly cash strapped governments. The Russian oil embargo has further turbo charged it to reduce Europe's dependency on oil.

    14. Evolution of the car has come at a price, back to the romance of collecting the significant other and crossbaring it to the restaurant, how bad.

    15. Lead by example. The day all of these corporations, policy makers, CEO's, politicians, gangs, drug cartels, media, leaders, UN, WEF, democrats, the 1% and Bill Gates give up their cars for pushbikes, then there'll be positive results in the climate. Instead shifting the blame to lay people is easier.

    16. Back in the early 70's as a 15 year old I discovered cycling in Germany. I feel in love with riding all around and I never lost the love of riding a bike! The freedom one has and the people one will meet while on a bike path can't be beat. I'm putting together for the second time in 3 years a biking and hiking trip through Germany,Austria and Switzerland with my two buddies. We call ourselves The Rolling Bones! I'm so glad the world is starting move away from cars when possible.
