Watch in 1080p! A ride along bicycle tour video of my solo London to Poznań (Poland) trip, going through Netherlands (Den Haag, Utrecht, Arnhem), Germany (Münster, Bremen, Hamburg, Berlin), and into Poland.

    1488 miles.

I followed the EuropaRadweg R1 route for a big proportion of the bicycle tour. This route is otherwise known as Eurovelo 2. EV2

I only planned for London to Berlin, but once reaching the German capital I decided to carry on east so I could experience some of Eastern Europe. I ended up in Poznań, the fifth largest city in Poland, and one of the oldest.

And I hope you enjoy the video.

    1. Wow, what a great adventure and a beautiful video. I stopped dead in my watching when I got to 2:03 and your photo from the top of the Dom in Utrecht. I have one almost identical to it which I took in 1986. Best wishes and happy touring. P.S. Those sandy roads must have been a struggle.

    2. What an amazing tour I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video especially of Berlin where I grew up as a child. How long did the journey take you.I couldn't see what pedals you used. This may be a silly question but how did you get back home? Train or plane and how did you transport the bike and gear.

    3. At 01.46 is the replica of a Roman watch tower. These towers were overlooking the Rhine of Leiden. The ROL was the border of the Roman Empire 2000 years ago. On the other side lived the Batavians, which are now the Dutch. 200 meters behind the tower is the museum which is free. And I live 0,5 km down the road, so that's how I know this.

    4. What a fantastic video – brilliantly showing what's out there to see for anyone taking the time and effort to go by bike. Truly inspirational.

    5. Hey Rob, really cool video! I'm planning my own jaunt on one or more of the EuroVelo routes– hope I can document it as well as you did. Have a few questions, and hope you'd be willing to help…

      * What camera and mount did you use? Seemed pretty flexible– saw handlebar shots, same handheld, shoulder mounted? (saw hair 🙂 Did you leave it running most of the ride, and use the best bits? If so, how many dozen SD cards did you go through?? lol

      * What was it like camping? Did you have a hard time finding a place, or worry about getting hassled? Any sketchy situations, or advice you'd have?

      * What's with the bear near the end? Having a dog chase you is bad enough but !

      Thanks man, and congrats!

    6. Hi mate. I am planning on undertaking the same journey as you next month, but will have a slightly different finishing line (Zakopane!..aha). I was just wondering whether you followed the EuroVelo 2 cycle route and if yes, was it clearly marked most of the time? Your help will be much appreciated! Cheers.

    7. Hi Rob what was your sleeping arrangements? I'm looking at doing the same route to Berlin but camping seems to be very limited in Germany. Advice would be very mucha appreciated. Thanks
