    1. Were you too embarrassed to wear your GCN kit while riding the e-bike? Seemed a bit odd to see you in regular street clothes for a bike review.
I myself will hold off as long as I can before buying an e-bike. Stick with the old school style as long as I can for all the benefits (and racing, and PRs, and QOMs, etc.). Could be a good option when I am 80…but by then I may need the push button and go option. 🙂

    2. I've been throught lithuim ion batteries testing professionally (for satelite and military) and through Ali batteries too, and this wrong battery state display has to do with the chemistry inside:
they take cheap elements meant for solar system (low power/"high" capacity) and when you pump to much current, the ion circulation cannot cope with that, and so the zone next to the "exit" of electrons (cathode and anode) get ion depleted, and with time what's within the core comes slowly replenish those zones.
That's why you've seen "lower level" and, waiting for those slow ions, you get "higher level" back again: "high" is actually the real value Cheap Ali BMS have actually security redondancy, I am not so concerned about their safety, but as said, you pump to hard on them on an ebike, and they age faster, especially with 750W motors, especially with 3 parallaled elements assembly:
with all that, mine would still probably last 5/6000km (50% capacity loss), with a 20% loss of capacity within the 1st 1500km…

    3. I just have to make this comment that in America where wearing cycling outfits will get me extremely wild looks and potentially even fired. Yes fire when I come into my job I have to have fireproof clothing from head to toe which here in America can be in the actual form of normal. Everyday blue jeans with fireproofing and a shirt regular looking t-shirt. Long sleeve with fireproofing and I have to wear steel toed boots for my job. A lot of places have offered a storage locker that you can keep things in and some people would say we'll just get to your job and change your clothes. My current job does not allow for that. There is no storage locker and to get to the only bathroom in the facility you have to rock across to production floor which would be a fireable offense not wearing my steel toed boots and not wearing my recommended uniform.
So I can't wear that kind of outfit on a bike to get back and forth to work. So when someone says the bike looks absolutely hideous and it's a minimal design straight black. I'm confused because I'm going to be the one that looks absolutely hideous dressed like some kind of maintenance employee while I'm on my bike, from there, I'd like to further criticize how looks are supposed to be effective on a bike, but instead, I'd like to hit the idea that if this thing will allow you to bike for 2 hours with minimal effort, that is quite a distance. My job is only 13 mi away and when people hear that every once in a while I'll take my mountain bike to work. They lose their minds. Absolutely lose their minds. It is just so uncommon in North America for people to use a bicycle for anything other than recreational fun.
But if I was to be trying to get 13 mi away to work and not be exhausted or tired, having a 2-hour battery capability would be more than enough to get me to work and home from work. So I think this bike would be more than usable, but in North America we don't have those silly laws about the throttle control. I would most definitely wire the pedal assist to an on-off switch and have me an actual throttle control instead of having to pedal if I didn't want to. I've never understood why bicycles should have to adhere to that law.
Now that's just me. The entirety of the government's over the pond seem to be fully content with controlling everything about everyone's waking lives. But e-bikes have been a thing here in North America just enough so that I can say that no one has ever died because they had a throttle instead of just pedaling. No one has ever went so insanely fast due to the throttle and our options for e-bikes seem to be limited to the power restrictions that they are restricted to across the pond as well. I have thought of many times that there are motors out there stronger than the ones that we can find available. Seems a little unfair.
That said, I love the network. I love your videos. Even though you don't like the looks of the spike, I actually like this bike for what it is and for the purpose of use I think that would be just fine to replace my mountain bike.
I may not look into getting that exact making model. Just depends on how much shipping is and what other options are adequate but I've never been a name brand kind of person name brand doesn't usually guarantee anything around here. I do actually have the Skylark folding bike that it seemed you referenced as a clown bike and while it is hilariously funny to talk about up until recently, I had a smart car. The BMW smart for two and the Skylark would actually fold in half and the handlebars fold down and it fit behind my back. Just above the motor of this two-door Smart car. If you were looking to have an emergency vehicle in case your car itself broke down, it would be the perfect trunk bike for people who live in town and would have to store it in their home and don't actually have a place to put a bicycle potentially not even allowed to install a rack mount or something due to their renting requirements. I could totally see a Skylark being their best option, but I will say those folding bikes with their small 10-in rims and 12 inch rims really do restrict you because if you're not using the battery power to move, for instance, if the battery was to die, pedaling becomes ridiculous because you're not getting as much out of it with the small tires as you could. Something with bigger tires. I have used it to get back and forth to my weekend job which is only 6 mi away and it would get me all the way there on a charge but I would have to charge it while at work to get back home.
Again, I really appreciate the video and will continue to follow❤

    4. Well the reason for the large battery sag is it's only a 36v system. I have a 52v 15amp battery on my 500w nominal 750w peak ebike which is sort of a similar setup mountain bike style and the voltage sag is minimal. With the 52v battery on there under full throttle, 15amps draw from the controller it sags to around the 55 volt mark from fully charged which means it's pumping out a peak of around 825 watts which is a little over 1 hp. The problem in Europe and the UK is due to stupid laws you're basically restricted to beginner or cheap ebikes because of the silly power and speed limits. In fact if I was stuck in the UK to a 250w motor I wouldn't even bother with a hub motor I'd be going with a mid-drive motor just to be able to take advantage of the gearing on the rear cassette. Or I would just ignore the laws and build my own bike or have one imported straight from China. Is the "display" a 5 pin waterproof barrel connector? You could always order a different, unlocked display with a real speedometer and actual settings to "tweak". You never know, you may go "off road" and need more than 25km/h…My guess is that 250w motor is probably peaking around the 11 or 12 amp area around 400w or so with a 36v system. That could easily be pushed to the 15amp area or 550w or so safely…if you were allowed to do it. Or better yet pop a 48v battery on there. I sold my old 48v battery to a guy who had an e-bike with a 36v system that was limited to 32km/h. However due to the extra voltage on PAS 5 it was hitting close to 55km/h with no load. He's still riding it, although he's an old guy so he only rides it on PAS 2 or 3 which limits him down to the 32km/h area.

    5. Watching the speed with which you cycle on a 27kg mass of bike sums up the reason why riders should be responsible, licensed and identifies on these pseudo motorcycles!

    6. Those little wheel bikes are utter pants. I've been able to burn them off at the lights and keep up with them on uphills on my £99 Argos mountain bike AND I'm nearly 60.
However, i would take this bike and transfer all the motor n batteries over to my Reynolds 531 frame, or make my own conversion with maybe lead gel batteries, although the range would be lower… TO THE SHED!

    7. The battery will suffer from voltage sag. Fairly common on lower end bikes. Fairly normal for it to look lower under load – then jump back up a bit over time. It's a reason why I'll always wait a few minutes for the battery and motor to cool before charging – and I always make sure I charge my ebike in full view of me – and with a smoke alarm directly above it.

    8. 27Kg?!?!?!!
All the kWh probably just get that additional weight moving
To be honest it's not a bad little bike if that's all you afford and have realistic expectations

    9. I definitely think that you're a bike snob. You proved it to be a great machine and it did everything that you put it through. It handled that hill effortlessly and I was amazed how it went down the steps (can't imagine anyone wanting to do that though). All in all a perfect machine for most riders, for the price. Judging by your smiles, you obviously secretly enjoyed and liked it.

    10. For a person with a leg injury. An Ebike is the best that ever happened to people with disabilities. It brings back enjoyment to living life by biking around with less effort due to injuries. Here it the U.S., most states are limited to 750W but its enough.

    11. that bike is way too heavy .
Simon, It stands to reason that if you switch to an ebike from a real bicycle, then you will NOT be more fit. Encouraging everyone to switch is bad for overall public health discouraging exercise a lot like being glued to cellphones do.
Around here at the beach in W. Seattle, the e-bike rentals are regularly left in the middle of the sidewalk and on bike trail with no repercussions for the idiot riders OR the company that pays the city for the ability to make money from the rental. It is so rude and disrespectful to everyone else using the public right of way. I push them over whenever they are in my way and will continue to do so. The renters are too lazy to do the proper thing.

    12. I have a cheap ebike and while it does require probably a lot more maintenance than a more expensive bike I've put a couple thousand miles on it just riding the 18 miles to work (and 18 miles back) this year.

    13. I fitted a motor to my wife's bike, she loves it and uses it more than the car. She's loads fitter and we save money. I fitted one to my Velomobile and it's a blast.

    14. Little note to the editor: music is too loud, way too loud, annoying since really it is not necessary. Constantly need to adjust volume for voice or music.

    15. The battery quality and safety aspects are probably the most important: it would be good , as part of your review, to have this done, probably with the help of a professional: dissection of the battery and electronics, as well as motor why not.
The rest is pretty obvious: you’re riding a $200-300 bike, right?
