    A little about Ed….
Ed is an elite cyclist, 2019 British Hill Climb Champion and former Under 23 British RR Champion. He has raced as a Continental level Professional Rider for one of the most successful British cycling teams in Japan, Korea, Australia, Canada, Azerbaijan to name a few. He is also a public speaker, coach, and founded the on/offline cycling community, Backpedal. At the start of 2021, the Discord community began, and plonked many of Ed’s viewers in to a 550+ strong group of people that had many things in common. Not least wanting to explore the world and pedal their bikes faster!

Ed coaches lots of cyclists in the online community too! If you are interested, email [laverackcoaching@yahoo.com] for information on the 1-2-1 coaching package and training plans, of which there are many and flexible options to suit everyone!

Ed now prioritises having fun with my hard earned fitness and knowledge in the sport. Showcasing that maybe there is an alternative to racing for teams when you can race for yourself and your community of followers and brands. This YouTube channel is a docu-series highlighting what it’s like to be a cyclist in today’s competitive age of sport.

    1. Kesick not Keswick in pronunciation, hope you haven't burnt too many matches already before tomorrow, might eschew club runs & drive up there to watch, whatever, good luck with it Ed!

    2. Turns out that a bloke from some of the hardest towns to pronounce in the world can’t get simple ones right in northern England 😅😂 (although it’s getting people to comment, maybe I did it on purpose😮)

    3. Pob lwc Ed. All the best tomorrow on the HC. The Fred Whitton a brute, with Hardknott near the end, had to climb off on the Hardknott for a little bit.. honest

    4. Awesome job again ED! Glad you decided to keep some of your training secret 😉 Used to live upo in North Lancashire so I know the area quite well and used to go up into the lakes quite a lot Done Hardnott and Wrynose a couple of times, but in a car and that was tough! Rode the Struggle though and that's a really interesting ride especially the way it comes straight out on to the main road at the top. Good luck tomorrow, looking forward to the results and watching next weeks video 👍

    5. Looks incredible Ed. I rode honister as my proper difficult climb, sad to say 12yr old me had to walk. Otherwise i loved the lakes, newlands especially

    6. Great vid, ed. I love the climbs in the lakes👌. Did you do hard knot from the “hard” side also? Ie west to east? Also, give Blae tarn a nudge whilst you’re there. It’s stunning from north back over to langdale at the start of wrynose.

    7. I've been wondering about this since I've been in the UK a few weeks back. Do you people know it's possible to make hairpins on hills so the average gradient can be lower? It seems to me like every road up al hill is almost a straight line. Paving was probably done by dumping the asphalt on the top, and just let it flow down and compact it 🙂 20-30% is not normal 🙂

But lake district is definitely on the map for our next UK holiday. For cycling up there I'd probably need to rent an ebike, because there's no gearing in the world that would get me up 30% without me falling over 🙂

    8. Agree with you on hardknott and apart from the bit where the cattle grid is and that steep bend it’s not what people rave about. Honister start to mid section was the hardest for me
