63% of Copenhageners cycle daily to work or education in the city.
75% of them cycle all winter in the City of Cyclists. We call it #VikingBiking.

The City has a policy that the network of cycle tracks has to be cleared of snow by 8 AM – and salted preventively ahead of potential snow – in order to allow the few hundred thousand cycling citizens to get where they need to go.

  1. I wish the areas I have lived were this bike friendly. All the cities I've lived have been dominated by the automobile with a few spare bike lanes here and there. Often cars not respecting it. Having to share the road closely with cars is quite terrifying… especially when the sides of roads are crumbling monkaS

  2. In Toronto they plow the snow from the road on to the bike path ….

I really do not get it. Do people want to pay more taxes? Cost for diabetes will ruin us in 20 years, get people biking!! Most people want to bike if possible.

  3. Brilliant! I've wondered about this for a long time. The weather is always fair when I see videos about biking in Copenhagen. I do understand the winters are long, wet, and cold so I always wondered if suddenly the street are jammed with cars.

  4. Real vkngs ski to work 😂🇧🇻👍 a few degrees north, this happens too.. but bikes are…. A little bit more of a danger than this

  5. You've mentioned before that electric bikes and regular bikes shouldn't mix – what's your opinion on electric bikes? How do they fit in in cities?

  6. Great motivation for other countries with milder winters! I see a good improvement area in bicycle lights though. Most of the ones on the clip just with the magnet powered small and low ones. Safety first!
