When choosing their next holiday destination, real mountain bikers are probably unlikely to have Karpathos uppermost in their thoughts. Real mountain bikers are more likely to hit on the obvious places like Lake Garda, Tuscany, South Tirol or Majorca. Karpathos, however, is gradually revealing itself as a real insider tip: everything for the cyclist is here – without the crowds. Our ION CLUB is set right in an extremely varied – and very high class – cycling location. A broad network of off-road routes with amazing views, as well as demanding single-trails, ensure that any cyclist’s heart will beat that much faster whilst his or her legs will feel the burn! Solitary, strenuous climbs, lots of elevation and fast downhills are part and parcel of any ride here. The length and elevation ridden can be tailored to your requirements and you can set up your own perfect day’s ride, to match your ability and stamina.
ION CLUB organises tours which start either right from the Center itself or via a shuttle bus and bike trailer. Many routes run along the coast so your swimming kit is a must in your day-pack as you can take a well earned and refreshing dip in the turquoise coloured waters of the Aegean.
We stop for lunch at any one of the numerous tavernas en route, where you can enjoy the amazing hospitality of the locals. And those of you who want to savour the cycling delights of Karpathos on your own, you can count on the support of the ION CLUB Bike Team with free advice on potential tours.
Bike hire includes the bike as well as all of the accessories you’ll need such as helmet, mini tool set, spare inner tube, hand pump and lock. Before you hit the road, the bike will be expertly set up for you and we’ll also give you a short overview on how to use the gears, brakes and suspension forks for maximum effect.
