I bought a used bike in Amsterdam to go on a spontaneous bike tour from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Mons, Belgium. This is Day 1 of the trip.

Hi, I’m Sara and my trail name is Tide Walker, Tide for short. I am a wandering adventurer and writer focusing on:
+solo female travel
+human-powered travel 🥾🚲 🛶
+budget travel
+car-camping
+mini vanlife
& always an emphasis on intentional, low-impact sustainable living
& social and environmental justice
I’ve been making up this radical nontraditional lifestyle as I go for over a decade, which has led me all across the world and over 10,000 miles traversed by human-power. I never know what my year will bring and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Follow along while I figure it out!

For a second hand bike you're better of buying it in small villages. In Amsterdam you can get beaten up because someone recognizes his stolen bike 😀
Great choice.
Gazelle is the most popular Dutch brand that builds top quality bikes. With a bit of care (and an expensive chain lock) it should last you a lifetime.
Can it really be this simple? Here you are, crossing the Netherlands on a second hand bike with a backpack and a some other bags tied to your bike. Living the life, doing what I want to do.
Here I am, looking for expensive bikepacking bags and figuring out how to attach it all to my bike etc…
Apparently it really can be this simple. Thank you, loved this video! It opened my eyes 🙂
you have the right spirit of adventure! my first bike in Netherlands was 30€ from a craigslist ad. met this sketchy as hell guy on the roadside outside easyjet hotel. i got the best lock i could afford it was 30€. i still have the lock
You….. know how to travel.
Thanks for the video.
