Jeremy Vine has filmed his own bike being crushed by a lorry in a cycle lane.

The BBC Radio 2 presenter was cycling in Bloomsbury, central London, at around 11am on Wednesday when his bike was crushed by the hauler.

He was approaching a crossroad junction next to Tavistock Square when the white removals van veered down a bike lane the wrong way.

The dramatic incident was caught on Mr Vine’s 360-degree helmet camera which he uses to film his daily commute and often posts videos on Twitter of altercations on London’s roads which spark lively debates between cyclists and motorists.

    1. He was the first reason I stopped listening to BBC radio 2!! Never have I heard a man with such a false, slimy, irritating voice, get so much pleasure from other people's sufferings!! He makes his money out of misery and wind-ups!!! What goes around……….

    2. Vine spotted the drivers mistake.went to rub it in and put himself in the blind area for the van driver. The driver was clearly unsettled and was trying to reverse out.Vine needs to realise how much he put himself in danger here.He could have martyred himself.Stupid.

    3. 2 seconds in Van starts illegal turn, Vine says "no".
4 seconds Vine's brakes can be heard.
6 seconds Vine's speed under control, but not at a stop.
7 seconds Vine moves behind van
8 seconds van starts to reverse
      13 seconds van stops reversing

He's often a knob on his bike, but he had 4 seconds to react and the van driver took just 1 second, from a standstill, to cause the collision with a cyclist he had a clear view of not even 10 seconds earlier.

    4. Watching this makes me so angry. Vine is a bloody fool. He could clearly see that the van had pulled across in front of him, yet instead of holding back, keeping his distance and giving time for the van to complete its manouvre, he rides straight into danger and ends up nearly getting himself killed. This isn't the first time I've seen him doing something like this on film either. Idiot!

    5. Good.. clearly it was impossible for the van driver to seen vine when he was directly behind the van. If a cyclist cant see the vehicle mirrors. The driver would not know a cyclist was behind him. It makes common sense not to get behind a van or lorry in this way. I feel sorry for the van driver.

    6. So Jeremy the Stan spots the vans drivers mistake at 0:03 and shouts no, why is Jeremy still going its a red light he's going through. What Jeremy has done here is filming himself breaking the law.
