When polishing your bike, you need to first of all make sure that your bike is absolutely spotless. So give the bike a good, deep clean first.

If you’ve got a gloss finish frame, think about using Carnauba wax. It is an extremely hard-wearing and durable wax, meaning your bike will stay looking good for a long time.

If you’ve got a matte frame, don’t use a solid wax, as it will damage the finish of the frame, stopping it looking matte. Instead use a thinner, liquid wax that will preserve the matte look of your frame.

When polishing your frame, take off as many parts from your bike as you can, ideally just down to the frame and forks. This will enable you to work the wax into all the hard to reach areas of your bike.

Finally to stop your frame getting scratched, apply helicopter tape to any vulnerable areas of the frame.

    1. Thanks for all your great videos!! I was looking for a video on how to clean an anodized alu frame but couldn't seem to find any! I've got a 2005 Specialised S works E5 in Silver and its now got quite a few 'dirty little spots' that are so stubborn! Hope u guys can share some tips on this!!! 😊

    2. I’m guilty! I own a Giant Yukon Disc an old bike for almost 11 years now. I kept it clean & polishes it frequently. With all parts still working very well, my newer friends who knows nothing about MTB thought I just bought it. Fulfillment for every hard work I persevere all these years 😋

    3. Jon, I spent few weeks looking for the proper way of cleaning my matt frame – baby wipes was the answer! Thank you so much! We are missing you man on the screen. 😉

    4. I use WD-40 on my aluminum frame with gloss finish. Why? Because it was invented to polish the Altas rockets of the Mercury space program. (Don’t use it on matte finishes or carbon frames!) Looks…out of this world. 😉 🚀

    5. if you feel the need to use those "protective" stickers at all times on your bike, then you've spent too much on your bike… Just saying, nothing wrong with maintenance, but bikes are tools, not trophies…

    6. I put my glossy yellow colour carbon frame against a 2 ft wall, and it slid down deep scratching fork and seat stays. I see white specks under the paint exposed in a series of spots. How do you recommend to fix it? I don't have any machine powered tools. Clear coat touch up with 🐢 Wax?

    7. If you have a white frame with grease grined into it, not even brake cleaner can remove it. Use the "Pink Stuff". Guarantee you wont find anything else like it.

    8. You want to pre rinse your bike on every finish, not just matte black. It's more important on glossy finishes so you don't get those swirl mark scratches.

    9. I’m using automotive grade matte sealant lasted 2 years no problem cars generally get more abused then a MTB or Road bike. So if it can last a year on a car that’s 2-3 years min on a bike imo
