The 2023 Tour de France was the fastest edition of all time with numerous records being broken. But with it came talk of doping. Accusations of Jonas Vingegaard being “not normal” and “from another planet” call back to the Armstrong era. So, should we believe what we have seen? Dan and Si explain the reasons why they think the Tour is now faster than ever before!

    1. The TT Jonas done has put me off watching cycling with such heart anymore… that was a sad day for top level sport. If Jonas could of heard his coms he wouldnt of gone that hard

    2. Personally i do not feel the peloton is clean. I think every area of grey is being utilised and some. I accept that tech has improved and made things a bit quicker, but i do not believe for a second its THAT much better.

    3. VERY IMPORTANT, CRITICAL!!! Pogi (time trial Tour 2020) vs. Jonas (time trial Tour 2023) advantage to followers per every kilometer:
POGI gained 2seconds per 1 km to second Dumoulain- VINGO gained 4,5 s per kilometer to second Pogi
POGI gained 2s/km to 3. Porte- VINGO gained 8 s/km to 3. Van Aert
POGI gained 2,5 s/km to 4. Van Aert- VINGO gained 8s/km to 4. Bilbao

Let's look the difference between first and 3rd place.
      Pogi 2020: 2s/km
Indurain's 1992 best time trial in history of Tour de France: 3,5s/km
      Vingegaard 2023: 8s/ km

How many times 2 is 8? IT IS 4 TIMES BIGGER ADVANTAGE THAN POGI!!!
THAT MUST BE THE BEST PERFORMANCE OF 300 000 YEARS OF HUMAN HISTORY CONCIDERING ANY SINGLE ACTIVITY OF HUMAN KIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And that is certainly not doping, it's something way better! Most probably it is: best biological doping in history + best tech doping + Vingo is biggest talent in history + VINGO's most studied and skilled time trial performance. No matter what you recomment, only all factors combined explain such a cosmic performance!!!

    4. Talking from an automotive industry to make an engine go faster it needs more fuel so it only make sense that to ride faster and further rides would consume more carbs as they are the bodies fuel

    5. Honestly you guys have to stop this arch nemesis business between Pogacar and Vingegaard, These two are the standup models for sportsmanship. They are friends they are warm and generous with each other and quick to congratulate each other on their respective performances. We are fortunate to have such statesman in this world at this time. Don’t go stirring the pot

    6. Biggest winning margin for over a decade, 16 mins back to the 10th place rider. Vingegaard didn't have 1 "bad" day in 3 weeks of racing. I want to believe the racing is clean and for the last 10 years I thought it was, now I am not so sure 😞

    7. Top 15 in that TT. We're talking the best riders in the World in their best possible condition. 15th to 3rd: 37.0kph to 37.9kph(WVA). Pogacar with a "next level" performance and a big step up 39.26kph. And then JV with a 41.23kph???!!!! Yes, yes, JV went ape on the downhill, took serious risks on those corners with inch perfect precision which takes lots of mental/physical energy when you're 60kg. And for most humans means slightly less energy one can give at the end. So on balance isn't necessarily the smartest strategy. But anyway he smashes the 80kg powerhouses on the downhill, then keeps pulling away on the flat from the like of WVA. Cavagna's, Stefan Kung, etc and of course obliterates everyone on the climbs. Everyone from 156th to 3rd goes up in 0.0 to 0.1kph increments and then you have a 1.3kph jump to Pogacar, and then a huge 2kph jump from even him?!!!! Or a sudden 3.3kph jump from 3rd place? Sorry, for that to be legit it is highly highly improbable.

    8. So you believe the TdF performances? Absolutely nothing to do with the fact that your paymasters control the television rights for the event is it??? Surely not?

    9. Come on boys……. if we still have to pretend that Brad Wiggins was clean and not a single person from the professional cycling world is brave enough to tell the public the obvious truth. Then you can't expect us to think that The Tour De France is clean now! Dan you were in the pro peloton and you could just tell us all you heard and saw but you don't………. (I think) I get it Dan has a mortgage and children to feed etc etc.

    10. All the sponsors and industry whores depend upon the myth cycling is clean. No surprise GCN has jumped on that bandwagon – their enterprise depends upon it.

    11. Jonas had extrordinary numbers before he was pro, with no Real structured training.
I had his own TT- bike before he was even pro, he was even racing TTT at a very young age.
Danmark is a very flat country, every race is mostly suited for Classic Riders, he had to fight for everything, and he didn't win anything amazing i in Juniors.
      He broke his thigebone,
He was out for 1 year. He nearly stopped riding.
He had a concussion, he was out for almost i year. No one knew anything about Jonas as today. He come back to follow dream.
His teknik no a tt bike i amazing on the downhill. His power is very high for a 60kg guy, because of riding in the flats. Jonas has had so many seatbacks but his stil here.
That tt in the tdf was extremely well prepared.
I don't think you get this things from doping. Crazy downhill handling skills, not doing a 30 sec bike change or not attacking the corners on the age and the belief of wining and wanting to prove that you are not a one hit wonder rider. That was simply an amazing ride from a great tdf rider 😊

    12. Ah, behold the mighty cyclist, defying all odds and breaking records! Is it sheer determination and hard work? Oh, please! Who needs lung-bursting effort when you can just sprinkle a little fairy dust of "performance-enhancing substances" and take the express lane to victory? I mean, why bother with ethics and fair play when you can have a chemical-powered rocket between your legs? Move over, Lance Armstrong, there's a new potion-powered pedaler in town, and they're high on success (quite literally)! 🚴💨💉 #DopingChampion #PoweredByChemicals

    13. 'Asking the difficult questions in press conferences' is fine in itself but it's not what's required to give us confidence in cycling, nor is the ban on intravenous injection and similar steps. There needs to be a culture in teams and among the administrators of the sport where those in a position to see something untoward, should they do so, can raise it and it will be appropriately dealt with. The cheating around Armstrong was systemic and people in the UCI enabled it when it was their job to expose it, those guilty of this are as much to blame as anyone. I really hope the culture has genuinely changed as the cycling at the moment is great entertainment, would be a shame to discover it's a fiction again.

    14. Surely after 2 straight TDF wins Jonas Vingegaard has ousted Tadej Pogacar off the Cycling Shorts chair!?!

    15. I really want to believe. I've loved the sport since my hometown invented a bicycle classic (The Redlands Bicycle Classic) while I was in high school.

But I just can't. You cannot destroy the records of cheaters while you're clean. These performances are, in fact, unbelievable. And I don't have a lot of time for "we don't know." We've been down this road. We "didn't know" about Indurain or Pantani or Ullrich or Armstrong. Except we DID know.

We do know now, too. We're just being ostriches. You can't do this cleanly. Five years from now everyone's going to be saying "well I never believed it all along."

    16. Lie detector.
They're at a great level of reliability now – or brain scan technology if you prefer.
If you are innocent, why would you object.

    17. The only reason to suspect anyone is cheating this year is the margin of winning… that time trial performance was quite remarkable 😂 if something seems too good it probably is.

    18. I'm not sure which would be more dangerous for your health, trying to cycle to every McDonalds in Dallas or driving to them and eating…
