Murphy’s law: “anything that can go wrong will go wrong”. Manon headed to Denmark in an attempt to qualify for the UCI Gravel World Championships, but fighting illness and horrific weather, can she overcome adversity and achieve her goal? This challenge sucked but at least it made for a great YouTube video!!

    1. Best GCN video I've watch. Why? Because of the raw honesty. We've all been there at one time. It's great to show this kind of content. Chapo to you.

    2. Awesome effort, big respect to have the courage to get on the start line, from there you can only do your best, as Manon says it’s important to show both the good and the bad of endurance sport, we all learn more from the bad and move onwards and upwards. Would love to see Manon do it again and get this event completed.

    3. As everyone else has said, fair play to you Manon for putting this out. Life happens! As to your next adventure, could you please get the GCN team together and go do the Nuerburgring 24 hour bike race? I've several thousand motor-powered laps behind me and a couple on the bike; it's a fantastically hard and beautiful track and needs you guys to make a film about it!

    4. What a awsome video! Showing the other side of the coin! Some days you are a champion other you are just crap! Thanks for this video! Imo it's important showing that the things don't always went as planned! Thks GCN and Manon for this sharing!
Keep it up with this awsome work! ❀

    5. Thank youa for reminding folks that it's ok to call it quits and that there is no shame in doing so. Most important is showing up at the start line!!

    6. Yowzer It’s was amazing watching this , Manon puts off a confident vibe when she presents but it was confronting when she showed her struggle with the race.

    7. From the start I guessed that this race would be very difficult and brutal. Nice try. I would like to try it, but after experiencing this kind of paths.

    8. Brilliant Video -To take on such an incredible challenge in the first place is pretty amazing. We forget that on the road of life there are both successes and failures where the latter is where the true learning exists and its what comes next that really matters. Thanks Manon, truly amazing

    9. I am both very surprised with the result and the words Manon used to describe her situation. I think Manon should prepare better for this course and challenge her self again.

    10. Bit late but for riding sand, what you do is keep your eyes way up, get to a ridiculously high cadence and low gear and keep a grip so loose you let the sand steer that front wheel.

    11. All the comments said it better than I ever could. You rock Manon! Thank you for being an inspiration to us all. ❀️‍πŸ”₯🀘

    12. Manson,
Courageous to accept this was not going to plan and to stop before you carried on an possibly injured yourself. Thanks for your honesty and showing depth of character. πŸ‘πŸ™ Hope you recover well to do the best challenge.

    13. Like most other commenters – I would just like to applaud both Manon and GCN for making this video. It’s not always sunshine and roses – often it’s just a hard slog with no reward.
Don’t beat yourself up – you tried your best.

    14. I’ve just read many of the supportive comments and really cannot add anything except my agreement. The only failure is not trying. You succeeded. What’s more you shared your experience so not only you, but many others can learn by it and that’s what life is about – experience; winning, qualifying is the icing on the cake of life. Well done Manon!

    15. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

    16. Great to see failure so well displayed. Not saying it because you failed but really more that showed its okay to fail. And you were not at your best either. As a new rider whose are was on fire the first time he did 20 miles years ago and hasn't ridden more than a mile since then, I am working my way back now.

      Thanks for sharing.

    17. I love you. oYou did your training, and showed up at the event on time, with the proper gear. You started and did your best that day. The only thing to say is just three words. The Next Time…

    18. Ask her to take over the training of a person who has never finished a century. Train them, along with them. Ride the event and watch them accomplish something they will value for life. Especially because they did it with her.

    19. Thank you for sharing Manon. You're still a superstar. A brilliant vid
I got lost on my first gravel effort and had a miserable return down a dual carriageway back to the hotel.
Am guessing this happens quite a lot.

    20. What Denmark lack in mountains, we have in the wind πŸ˜‰ The west coast is ALWAYS windy…… But you did a good job and yes sometimes things just don`t goes as planed πŸ™‚

    21. A suspension stem is good for comfort, but it does nothing for handling. A suspension fork is good for both. A MTB needs to soak up big hits, so they use air suspension with lots of travel and dampening. A gravel bike needs to soak up thousands of small hits every minute. That means a coil fork with short travel (30-40mm) and no dampening is probably the best option. As far as the rear is concerned, I reckon that a suspension seat post is as good for a gravel bike as a rear sus is for an enduro.

    22. manon, you are an absolute badass! watching you struggle through your illness and this unfathomably hard race is absolutely inspiring. thank you so much for showing us how incredibly strong you look when you fall short of your goals. πŸ’•

    23. Well done for actually getting to the start line but even more courageous to stop when your body gave it everything up to that point. Superb video. πŸ‘

    24. I've rarely gone that far on a sunny day and smooth tarmac. Another inspirational video reminding me never to get my bike dirty. Hit the hotel bar Manon. great effort.

    25. Brave effort, good for you for even attempting a challenge like this. I’ve always taught my children it’s not the winning, it’s not the taking part, it’s how hard you try on the day that matters, and damn you put everything into it.
On a separate note I just don’t get gravel racing, especially in these conditions. I have my road bikes which I enjoy on tarmac in all weather conditions, and if I want to go off road I have a mountain bike. Having to drag my bike across a muddy field or sand on foot holds no appeal whatsoever.

    26. As an Austrian living in Denmark I would choose climbing a mountain 11 out 10 times over the gusty winds here. That sand looks horrible to ride on, well done hanging in there for so long.

    27. You did so well, especially considering you were not at your best. Your honesty is much appreciated, I absolutely love this video because you really showed yourself. We will all love you even more now. And because I'm 59 years old and I did my first 50 mile ride yesterday, couldn't have done it without your help and advice!!
