UK cycle touring documentary – Cycling from North Wales to England!

The British Isles bike tour continues! In this episode of the bicycle adventure, we’d cycle toured over 1,000km to North Wales. Exploring Wales by bike, after cycling Snowdonia we stopped near Portmeirion, slept in a campervan, and finally reached Anglesey, our last major stop in Wales. We followed the North coast of Wales back into England, and arrived in Liverpool, completing our first country of bike trip. Though the first country on our cycle touring adventure was behind us, we still had 4 more to go. So the cycle journey was just getting started.

Cycling Wales took us onto quiet mountain roads in Snowdonia, through the Welsh slate mining landscape – recently designated a UNESCO world heritage site. We stayed with more Welsh locals before we made our way to Anglesey, and spent several nights camping. There, Jill’s brother, James, came to meet us to try his hand at cycle touring.

In 2021, Jill and I were on a long-distance bicycle tour from Sussex to Shetland, for a movie date at the most remote cinema in Britain! Cycling so far would take us over five months, through pretty much all the terrain the British Isles has to offer.

Cycle touring as a couple was a first for us, and would take us through England, Wales, The Isle of Man, Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, finishing on one of the most remote islands in the UK, Out Skerries, in Shetland, for a movie date at Britain’s most remote cinema.

Exploring Britain by bike, and cycling Ireland, would take us off the beaten track, often to places we’d never heard of. We’d learn more about our home country and it’s neighbours than ever before, by meeting people we’d never otherwise have crossed paths with. And that would be the real adventure.

Shout out to Jill for some top-notch B-Roll and the impressive dance moves!

    1. Great video, I loved seeing the areas I grew up around from a different perspective. I have to ask, what was the terrible sandwich in Portmeirion?! The 2 hotels there serve really excellent food so I guess this was from one of the other outlets!

    2. I am amazed by the quality of this video. You are an excellent videomaker! And as a person who loves biking and dreaming to visit England – this is the great content for me, thanks!

    4. When I’ve been coming home to Ireland from Manchester over 21 years, having stopped flying in 2010, I’ve passed through Holyhead in both night-time and daytime, winter and summer, both “coach and sail” and on SailRail and the highlight is always between Chester to Holyhead – I’ve been on storms across the Irish Sea to Dublin but the Irish Ferries Ulysses is by far my favourite ship
