I met Rui who invited me to explore the mountains and sleep in Mondego headwaters.
The plan was to cross Serra da Estrela and Serra do Açor and end in Pombal.
Unfortunately I couldn’t record the 3 day trip so this is just the first day. Neverthless it was an amazing trip that I highly recommend.

  1. Finally a new vid you lazy Alfacinha! and speaking of which, do not let it slip your memory, "One Cyclist in Lisbon" is in Lisbon and not in:_________ (fill in the blank). Ta ta.

  2. Those initial trails were screaming for a XC bike but I guess you couldn't pack up so many bags as you did on your gravel bike. Anyway what matters is the trip itself and that you enjoyed it. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! 🙂

  3. É uma pena que a câmara tenha falhado depois do primeiro dia, porque até já estava com curiosidade para ver como tinham sido os outros dois dias…

Ainda assim, um ótimo vídeo, como sempre! 😉

  4. Mr Miguel how have you been?
It's good to see you on your gravel cycling adventures!
Nice footage of the small towns and villages of Portugal!
    Safe travels sir

  5. So agradecendo pelos teus videos. Conseguem passar bem a sensação de passar pelos lugares. 🙂
Comecei a morar em Portugal e espero conseguir fazer alguns roteiros

    Valeu!

  6. I've been binging on your videos over the past few days…
Thank you for showcasing your beautiful city and your beautiful country!
    From Edmonton, Canada.

Obrigado.

  9. I've biked on a mountain too. In Haridwar Uttarakhand, India, the place is a pilgrimage and I'm an atheist but man… Bruh… The Rajaji National Park there. Beauty of nature right there. The mountains have a very steep climb on a stretch, I think it's impossible for even competitive cyclists, but there's an amazing long winding descent through beautiful raw mountain beside a city that's hard to describe. It's like 4 km of smooth winding descent with 0 traffic. AND, that's BEFORE the national park itself.

  10. Hi Miguel, i am going for a trip in july starting from salamanca,Spain heading to Vieira da Leiria, crossing serra da estrela. Still working on my perfect route through the serra da estrela, trying to get the best of it . Your trip definetly inspired me and i already added your route to my favs on bikemap : -)

    great !

  11. Miguel, I watched a video of a young German couple cycle camping in the Algarve and the woman commented at length that she felt Portuguese drivers were 'aggressive' toward cyclists. Watching your videos I don't sense this, and I was wondering what your thoughts were? Obrigado!
