Bikepacking across Europe brought me to another amazing country: Greece.
Greece is one of my favorite countries and cycling here is one dream come true.

The first-week cycling here took me through the Epirus region, a place filled with many ancient monuments and full of history.
I crossed the border with Albania a bit before Igoumenitsa and then cycled all the way to Patras. Amvrakikos (Ambracian) gulf has been one big highlight for me and I saw flamingos for the first time.
It is not the only wetland around this area, so the week was full of beautiful sights and amazing nature, made new acquaintances and spent one night with an UNEXPECTED COMPANY.

    1. Lovely video. And no. Greece is actually dominantly lush and green. The whole mainland is super green and actually even in summer. And this also accounts for a selection of the islands. Some islands have almost no greenery to begin with. But some are virgin forested like for example skopelos. Just to show the immense breadth of the spectrum. But for example. anyone that goes in may, has lush nature and greenery all around. Literally all around. I mean green green. Its unfortunate that nowadays we cant post any links to show what I mean.

Also. as much as mountainous as you saw, if you go more deeper inland than you truly have overwhelming amount of mountains. Mount Olympus, Pindus mountains, Tymfi Mountain, Tzoumerka mountain, Agrafa moutains, are just a few out of 300 mountains in Greece

    2. Amazing video. very jealous as this takes me back to when I worked in that part of the world, actually at 26:23, you go through the small village of Paleros and that is where I used to live and work.

    3. I also found it challenging going past places I wanted to stop and enjoy, particularly early on in my journey but I eventually decided that it was about the journey not the destination. Once I started doing what I wanted I really, and I mean really, began to enjoy the experience. Forget the distances focus on the experience.
Don’t forget to check the brake pads 😊
