    00:06 – the Sahara from a bird’s eye view

    12:01 – Lommelse Sahara

Lookout tower De Reus van Bosland
Anyone who wants to see the Lommelse Sahara from the air can do so with their own eyes from the 30 meter high watchtower. ‘ De Reus van Bosland ‘ not only looks very impressive but also gives an impressive view of the Lommel area: on a clear day, you can see up to 25 km away! You can zoom in via the observation viewer on the highest platform.

The architects of MaMu architecten took their inspiration for the design from the lines of the sloping sand dunes in the Sahara: the ropes that are draped around the tower have a natural color and appearance, and are flexible, but at the same time relatively heavy, which makes them sag. Wrapping it alternately tight and loose around the tower creates the lines you see everywhere when you look around the Sahara.

    Walk along the watchtower
Each marked hiking trail passes at the watchtower. A quick visit can be done via the blue route , and then it is about 2.5 km from the starting point.
