Have you ever brought your bike on a train in Germany? I have. From Berlin to Friedrichshafen at Lake Constance in the south of Germany. My first endeavor did not go as smoothly as I had hoped for – but it all worked out in the end. Turns out that bringing a bike halfway through Germany on the train is not as complicated as I thought. Just a bit annoying, Thanks, Deutsche Bahn 😜

Adventswochenende

    6. I've always liked germany…my family was stationed there in the early 60s….I ride a recumbent trike and would love to tour in Germany using the train system….wonder if they allow trikes on the train?

    7. This is a great thought process. Whatever happens, happens. It's an adventure! I think the same way. Your experience taking bike to train was very similar with my first experience here in America with Amtrak train. We we have the same bikepacking Apidura setup, love it. Thanks for the video 👍🙂

    8. Once had a bike in a train Germany, no problem, but the second time never came as the bike was stolen before it. 😀 Train with bike is in general way less stressful than an aeroplane but it varies a lot between the airports and airlines. I've got some mild damage to my bike sometimes but e.g. on Lufthansa flight from Helsinki to München everything was perfect although I hate fiddling with pedals (good hex tool is a must). But in general I've found it easier to just cycle through Germany, not that big country after all. Next I hope she tries this in Sweden. No, not really. Why, Sweden, why?

    9. Nice bike on the train solution. Next You could bike to to correct train number. Make sure you send this to AMtrak in the U.S. . They are clueless about taking a bike on the train.

    10. Hello, my name is Hector from spain and now living in germany. in north, wilhelmshaven. i just discovered your channel. i am wondering about to start to do some small tours with bikepacking but i dont know which bags to buy or where to start. so happy to discover your channel. your are a great inspiration. thanks a lot.

    11. Your train ride issues reminded me of a man on the S-Bahn in Munich who, when the train had to stop for maintenance workers, cried out in English, "Fahcking Deutsch Bahn!" XD

    12. I'm from the US. I think YT recommended this video because I watched your Giant Revolt video – I'm getting one soon. This video reminds me of my days of traveling from Frankfort to Nuremberg, Munich, and Bretten. It's always in late January or early February. The scene outside of ICE' window is so familiar but so far away. Thanks for the video.

    13. Nice video. I was wondering if you had to book a reservation for you bike? I would like to take my bike on a deutche Bahn ICE train from Berlin to Rothenburg Ob Der taber and when I tried to make a bike reservation, all the spaces were filled. I was very surprised at this since I am booking this 7 months in advanced. Any thoughts? Thank you

    14. Very good video, sometimes the same people who live in Germany don't know how to take the train with a bicycle, of course it's just discovering and asking questions, but a very good experience! regards👍

    15. Hi, really enjoyed watching this – I want to do the Bodensee this summer. Do you empty your GoPro SD card every night or do you have a ton of SD cards? Greetings from the UK

    16. Deutsche Bahn rocks! I spent 1996-98 bike & training, mostly around Stuttgart. But you should not feel embarrassed when you did what you were suppose to do.

I liked how you hooked up your cam to act as security cam. I lost a cheap camera off my bicycle to a thief near Köln once, but I locked the bicycle so it could have been worse.

Being able to take the train home meant I could ride twice as far away on my weekend rides.

Chicago is now good for bicycle on trains. If you ever come here do so in the May-June or September-October for the best chance at great weather.

Riding into Stuttgart via Bad Cannstatt and thru the Staatgarten and next to the Nekar River to the Untertürkheim S-Bahn was always a thrill no matter how many times I did it.

    17. Hi Alina,

Thanks for the Video. I am curious to know how and when did you Reserve the bike Tickets for travel.
Is it required to book it while you Reserve the train Ticket or can you Just buy it before you Board.
I signed Up for tuscany trails this year and was curious to know how DB Works for transporting Bikes

      Cheers,
      Sarath

    18. I am actually told from here in Denmark, that it is not possible to bring the bike in ICE trains ? Have they changed this in the meantime or are they wrong?
