This was interesting glad to see how you can accommodate all. Thank you for the video and commentary
Hi Dusank, ….old man in the red car isn't Dutch. Look at his numberplate on the car…he is Belgian. Belgian numberplates are white with red Numbers and letters. The Dutch are yellow with black numbers and letters…only the Belgians would park a car like this, haha. Gr. Ron
Or even Sam at 'Exploring the foreign' Another great content creator on the Netherlands
Another factor why biking infrastructure is so crucial in the Netherlands is because we are a small, densely populated country. If we would drive as much as the Americans do, we would be in constant gridlock. We would also have less space to build homes when we already have a significant housing shortage.
also nice to watch…. from waterways to highways back to waterways… In the 50'ties the government tought that cars was the future…. not for long… 🙂 Utrecht: https://youtu.be/GsQQ8Ujbua4?si=qtY1acmUIBtPSnZl
I remember the oil crisis and the car free sundays. You could play on all the streets as a child.
Obesity is growing in the Netherlands too. Especially in the lower incomes who got poorer on average choose the ‘food’ they can afford and usually these aren’t the healthiest. Children move less due to the smartphone and gaming consoles. Sporting is expensive too and, again, the lower incomes can’t afford that. Luckily there are special projects so they can also do sports but not everyone knows that.
Great video again very interesting 😄
