Tourist tower
High, higher, highest
The Tourist Tower has stood at the highest point in Herentals for more than half a century. The current tower was opened in May 1985. The construction has 112 wooden steps that take you to a height of 22 meters. At the end of the climb, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the surroundings.

On the highest floor, there is an orientation table on which you can read the direction and distance to more than a hundred church towers. Some say that on a clear day, you can even see the spheres of the Atomium twinkling. Even more impressive than the view is the deafening silence that overtakes you once you emerge above the tops of the trees. Be sure to take the time to listen to nothing for a while.

There is a cafeteria at the bottom of the tower . You can also take a seat at the picnic benches outside on the sand.

You can also take lovely walks in the vicinity of the Tourist Tower . Junctions 9, 12, and 94 of the Kempense Heuvelrug hiking network are nearby. Cyclists will find the tower between nodes 14 and 90 of the cycling network of the province of Antwerp. Mountain bikers and riders will also get their money’s worth in the woods.
