I’ve been searching for a gravel bike in the sub $1000 range and came across this 2020 model State All-Road 6061 Black Label in Woodland Green. The seller is asking $600 and said it’s in excellent used condition. I’m wondering if this is a good deal and worth purchasing over something like a new GT Grade Sport for $850 or 2024 State All-Road 4130 for $850. I’m open to any suggestions and will be using the bike for a mix of gravel/road riding. Thanks!

  1. Through axle hubs is very good for that price, otherwise just good for $600. Only unusual thing is that the frame seems really large, that stem and head tube are very long. I don’t know how the sizing goes for that model but it looks like if you’re less than 185cm tall then it probably doesn’t fit you.

I think State bikes are underrated. The frame and fork will be good. The only concern about this bike is the groupset. However, you can probably upgrade to Microshift Sword for not that much money, if it ends up being substandard

Check out [Poseidon Bikes](https://www.poseidonbike.com/)! They have a couple of great entry level gravel options that are very good platforms for upgrade over time. They are offering some pretty nice Black Friday deals right now as well. I’ve put almost 5,000 miles on my Dropbar X over the last couple of years and it’s been great. Great bike out of the box even better with some cost effective upgrades. From everything I’ve read State makes great bikes as well. But for $50 more you could have a brand new X Ambition. When you buy used you can’t always be sure what you’re getting. There are some great used deals out there but there are also some bad deals.

For $600, hard to beat…especially if this is your first gravel bike. Buy it. Ride it.
