WELCOME BACK TO THE CHANNEL!

Thank you for being here and watching this little old cycling vlog. Brief hiatus due to a persistent knee injury, but we are BACK doing our favourite things – riding bikes and exploring!

This week we make the most of a trip to North West Wales and pack the bike bags for a quick road cycle and bike adventure around by beautiful Dolgellau and Barmouth. Originally planning to gravel ride, we make a last minute change to stick to the tarmac to protect the knees…and what a beautiful explore! We stay in a beautiful old barn conversion (Air bnb), ride down to the coast, explore some of the rolling roads.

Because we all love a bit of a bargain, some discount codes from some super lovely partners:

£25 off LAKA bike insurance: https://my.laka.co/WEJ30
20% off Pelotan using PELOHUN20 – stay safe in the sun
10% off all SIROKO cycling kit using PELOHUN10 at checkout – men and women – tuck in! Kit I’m wearing in the video is all SIROKO – who are super reasonably priced and actually so impressed with the quality. (Been wearing for months now to road test before sharing).

Thanks so much for all the support, really appreciate any likes, comments and subscribes ❤

A little about me
Thanks for dropping by.
I’m your classic runner turned newbie cyclist.

For years I feared riding a bike – I was afraid of traffic, clipping in, couldn’t get my head around lycra, chamois cream and clambering up hills on a bike.

I didn’t believe that riding a bike would give me the same de-stress, mental download or sense of freedom that life as a long distance runner had given me before my knees ground to dust.

Fast forward to 2021 and picking up a second hand CAAD10 changed my life for the better. Not just physically and mentally. But also providing a sense of community and belonging – which is magic. The cycling community is just magic.

So I’m here. To hopefully inspire others to not fear the bike – the lycra, the clipping in. And come share the passion, freedom and indescribable joy that comes from being on the bike. I truly believe that the bike life is the best life and everyone should be able to enjoy it.

Come with me on some adventures.

  1. Great video, yet again. Glorious part of Wales. Love the Mawddach Trail. We {my wife and ride buddy}have ridden this on road bikes, and it's a comfortable ride. Also ridden it , with our son, on gravel bikes. I know that you were running out of light, but the old station, now a pub, is a must stop for rehydration.🍺🍷😉 There are some amazing roads and views along the base of Cadair Idris, and down into Fairbourne and Barmouth. And yes, that part of the world does test your legs, but it's so rewarding. On the subject of Isaac's 199 mile ride, 199 miles will always be the same as a 200 mile ride for me. what's one mile amongst friends.😉

  2. After too many near misses and 2 serious hits, I never ride anymore without lights as it’s just too risky. Next time you’re driving and see a cyclist without lights, take note of how hard it is to notice them. That’s how you appear to drivers when you ride. Also, the Garmin Varia radar light is one of the must items to own. Look it up it’s absolutely brilliant. Great video btw! I’m building up a gravel bike myself and can’t wait to get out on it.

  3. Hi Kate!!! Just last week I was wondering (worrying, actually) if we'd lost you two! Great location and video Kate, as always! We're teetering on the start of winter here in Canada so a) I'm stuck indoors on the trainer and b) I'm really hoping for lots of new adventures from the three of you, ya, the puppy counts for sure. So cute, more please! – Bob (Toronto, Canada)
