I am glad I disassembled the bottom bracket on this 17-year-old FS bike. I’m guessing the white crusty stuff is the white lithium in lithium grease hose petroleum based parts have long ago evaporated.
My plan is to clean them with Zepp orange and then Greece. What does the collective think? Synthetic multipurpose grease with Teflon or traditional marine grease

That “super lube” from Harbor Freight is my default choice nowadays.
Marine grease. I have a few tubes of Super Lube synthetic but I pretty much use that for “secondary” purposes like screws and seatposts. Bearings get marine grease.
Either one will work fine though.
Marine grease 1000%. Super Lube just doesn’t lubricate all that well in my experience.
I’ve used Lucas Red N Tacky on old BBs before. I like to live on the edge….
White lightning crystal clear grease for everything that’s not a freehub or carbon
