See the video for the play in the cassette. Mavic ksyrium wheelset with CS-M8000 cassette. Wheelset is new, and I'm pretty sure the old hub didn't have this play. See the photo for a pic of the hub, which the item description said was HG.
I have what seems like a lot of play in my cassette.

I have been riding it a bit, so the play between hub and cassette has chewed up the splines a bit. Is this a case of MTB cassette vs road hub? Is the hub too wide to allow pressure on the cassette? Should I switch to a road cassette? I rather enjoy the low gears ⚙ 🙂
I’m assuming you had it tightened down as much as possible and it wasn’t just loose.
Likely a case of 11-speed road freehub body vs 11-speed mountain cassette. Despite having more gears, 11-speed mountain cassettes fit on standard 8/9/10 speed freehubs, which are shorter than 11-speed road freehubs.
11-speed road cassette should solve the issue.
You are going to need a spacer behind the MTB cassette. I think it is a newer 11S freehub body. This body is ~1.85mm wider than the previous 8/9/10 freehub body. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
As long as you throw a spacer on and didn’t ride it, it should be fine. Bike shop should sell you one for cheap. Might as well get two, they tend to go the way of 10mm sockets (lose them).
