I was tired of driving everywhere and I figured a bike would be a nice alternative so I bought a bike and attached a bike trailer to it to haul my 1 year old around.

I got a mile and a half on it yesterday and ten miles on it today and I think I’m getting the hang of it, but I am struggling SO HARD on the uphills. Is there anything I can change about my setup to alleviate my suffering, or is the only solution to keep at it and Git Gud? I don’t really know much about bikes so figured this would be a good place to ask. Thanks so much!

My current setup:
* Fuji Flair road bike (from the 80s I think), basically all original components, in decent shape – would getting a different type of bike help? or swapping out any of the components?
* Burley Bee trailer containing a 23 lb child (please ignore the lack of cover in the photo I have it on now)
* Nothing else really

    Unfortunately hills will always be a pain when pulling trailers. The best suggestion I can give you is to find a bike that has lower gears.

  2. Get into the lowest gear.
    Get more gears.
    Get a lighter bike.
    Keep at it and get fitter.
    Stand up and pedal.
    Get an electric bike.
