Thought of sharing my latest upgrade. Some context to this, I was sporting the ATS Speed Drive until now, given the overdrive broke. That means I had to go back to the drawing bo…workshop.
Here’s the latest gearing update and one to stay for the foreseeable future. After some inspiration from u/JofArnold and u/versello, I’ve decided to up the chainring and install a 3rd party derailleur extender that would allow me to install larger sprockets in the back
Gearing range 218%, 60t chainring coupled with the following sprockets:
24t -> 41.5 gi
19t -> 52.4 gi
15t -> 66.4 gi
13t -> 76.6 gi
11t -> 90.6 gi
This gives a decent range, with gaps that wide but not extreme. It allows me to do some light climbs while maintaining a solid top speed. The derailleur extender is the one from Brommieplus, it’s for the official Brompton one. It took 10 mins to install, is soild, well built and well adjustable to account for any frame differences. The shifting is smooth, I’ll report back in a few months with a final review.
