  1. The Independent Brigg Line Rail Group has been going since 2012.

There is a community rail partnership but they are blacklisted on the line abandonment and non promotion, there is a number of official complaints about this organisation.

In the summer months the Brigg Line service is full and standing, mainly due to the operator having an advanced fare cheaper than a competitor for Sheffield to Cleethorpes, footfall has been totally obliterated at Brigg as the majority of passengers came from the Cleethorpes and Grimsby areas on the Saturday only service.

The station area at Brigg belongs to North Lincolnshire Council and has done since 1996, it is due to be redeveloped but simple little things like putting a bit of tarmac down so that visitors don't get clarted in mud leaving the railway station seems to be too much for them.

Locals do say that the council's attitude is out of sight out of mind for this area.

The Network Rail footbridge at Brigg is exceptionally controversial.

Brigg is countered as a retirement town and the footbridge does not have any ramps, that means a large proportion of the community cannot use the station, and end up going by taxi to Barnetby 5 miles away which has an accessible footbridge.

The Independent Brigg Line Rail Group are pushing for an extra round trip service Monday to Friday in the May 2025 timetable.

The DfT say this will cost £400,000 a year.

Gainsborough Central pre COVID has an hourly stopping service to Sheffield Midland, however, the car park next to the station belongs to the shopping complex who refused to let customers park during the week, the estimated 25000 footfall a year was never reached with customers going to Lea Road where there is free parking available.

Trans Pennine Express have announced will look at 4 round trips between Cleethorpes to Doncaster via the Brigg Line in future but these will not call at Brigg or Kirton-in-Lindsey so doesn't have the support from IBLRG.
