If you have free surface area about the size of a bike on a wall, something like this is gonna look more tidy, take less space and probably be easier to take the bike on and off from.
It’s too bulky and cumbersome for my tastes. Hanging it high up on the wall is a better use of space. That said, this person might be renting and isn’t allowed to drill into the walls/ceiling, and maybe they don’t have the space for their bike to just be stood on the floor, in which case this kind of free standing rack is a good idea.

Given that exact space, and if it were a rental that you might not be at for another year, it’s not terrible. It gets the job done, although I question the choice of materials and design. It really depends on the exact space you have to store it
