What range of tire widths can I use with this rim? 406-46 by brandazzlin Bicycling Bike Bike Repair Biking Cycling Repair
November 14, 2024What bike is this? Restoration advice? Sorry for being completely clueless but considering getting this restored for father-in-law. Anyone know what model it is or how I’d find out specs? What kind of work / time / costs would be involved in restoration? Would the juice be worth the squeeze? Thanks
V1ld0r_ on November 14, 2024 11:11 am I really hate this from the get-go. The standard way to present ETRTO values is width followed by diameter, so it should be 46-406. Secondly, Is this for a BMX bike, folding bike, trailer or something else? Anyway, Schwalbe has good info on this, especially under this: [https://www.schwalbe.com/en/technology-faq/tire-dimensions/](https://www.schwalbe.com/en/technology-faq/tire-dimensions/) and: [https://www.schwalbetires.com/media/16/8f/9b/1654668257/reifen-felgenkombination-etrto-22-en-2.pdf?srsltid=AfmBOoqNvOvdJGmqQxYcCSXQcr7isVCanqXncgCpIZORkPPv-fO21tai](https://www.schwalbetires.com/media/16/8f/9b/1654668257/reifen-felgenkombination-etrto-22-en-2.pdf?srsltid=AfmBOoqNvOvdJGmqQxYcCSXQcr7isVCanqXncgCpIZORkPPv-fO21tai)

What does the rim manufacturer recommend?
The ETRTO table will give you all possible combinations.

72-95mm
I’d put anything between 2″ and 2,6(8)” without concerns.
