Volkswagen, Germany’s largest employer, announces unprecedented factory closures across the country, including plants in Hanover, Kassel, and Wolfsburg. The company faces severe challenges from rising energy costs, Chinese competition, and declining market share. With potential job losses and pay cuts of up to 10%, this crisis signals deeper problems in Germany’s industrial sector. The situation worsens as China advises its EV makers to halt European expansion plans in response to EU tariffs. Meanwhile, German automakers struggle with technological advancement and market competition, particularly from Chinese manufacturers who dominate the global EV market.

  1. America has no friends or allies, only self interests. Vassal countries are so pitiful and naïve in thinking that America cares for them or anyone else! Sleep with the devil….wake up in hell !

  2. Its sad to see people suffer for idiotic dicision of gutless, spineless, lying, coward Shcolz… half the problem started with energy prices now they cant even compete… how can you compete when just your energy cost is 3 to 5 times your competitors

  3. as an european, I am not happy seenig europes economy going down. It will afect all of us. As for the chinese made cars it is the last thing I would buy. China is not fair into this matter just like it started years ago with joint ventures for western brands now they complain about tarifs. Fuck china. Copycats thats what you will always be

  4. what for a bad video, our car industry is shuting down (not yet) just because of our corrupt gouverment and ther Idiology Dictatorship, it has nothing to do with China.

  5. VW should just totally shut down to show workers the reality. All these crap unions are killing the company & prevent it from transforming faster to cater changing world situations. Elon is always right omit unions in his manufacturing. China never needed unions & yet they produce better more efficient production. When EU auto industries can't compete, EU play dirty with additional tax.

  6. It's not "new competitors and challenging situation" (well, it is partly, with high energy costs and Chinese buying less VW cars) but it's Europe which needs to be blamed with their totally insane ev mandates. Note that at some point, all the European car manufacturers will be or already are in the same situation. Most of them will disappear and I can predict we will all be driving Chinese cars if the EU does not revert back.

  7. Germany was a world power from 1871 to 1918! We are living in 2024 and they are nothing but a failed country lost in the glory of the past! They better start respecting Russia and China, they are responsible for their limited success in the world!

  8. Strangely, when the US is wealthy and strong every directives to Allies and Gangs had been right. But today, with their economical circumstance, every directives are ineffective.

  9. Russia and China it not what’s wrong it’s your own stupid ideas that instead of working with Russia and China sell and buy be partners ,but no you tie your ass to the USA war mongering backstabbing process get out before it to late norm

  10. I remember this happened to the u.k car industry if you don’t have cheap energy you have no industry so Germany will have to be like the u.k and become a service economy good bye German industrial industry they can’t compete with China this will not end well maybe they should go back to making tanks

  11. as a worker in Germany and bmw i can say we have more work then last year…. not really shuting down… only vw have some small problems…

  12. In the end it’s up to us consumers. Whenever possible my family prefers regional products and products „Made in Germany“ or elsewhere in Europe. Ultimately this attitude led to less consumption and less contribution to environmental pollution.
