Can anyone explain how this happened? Rear tube burst in two locations when jumping off a maybe 3-foot ledge onto flat ground. I'll be changing the tube but was just wondering what happened, in case I should do something to avoid it happening again, or if this is just normal wear-and-tear. There's no visible damage on the outside of the tire in that location, and it feels perfectly smooth on the inside of the tire. There is a bit of a dent in the rim, but it's a few inches away from where the tube burst, so not sure if that's related. The tube and tire are not that old. TIA 🙏

  1. Snake bite puncture. The tire compressed flat under the load and the tube pinched against the rim. Either increase the pressure or go tubeless.

    Pinch flat.

You hit something so hard it pinched the tube against the rim and also damaged the rim.

Would recommend a bit more tire pressure. And check your pressures before a ride.

  3. Snakebite flat.

It’s caused by too low of a pressure.

Run higher pressures in your tires.

    Don’t bash into curbs.
