I bought a Specialized/Fjallraven poncho for riding in the rainy season, and I like its hand flaps, sleeves, and hood design a lot. I also appreciate the obnoxiously bright yellow color, which I find charming when the long dark winter sets in. What I am confused by is the cords it has that they claim you can use to keep the poncho in place so your legs don't get soaked.
I've tried placing the cords slightly above my knee, slightly below my knee, tighter, looser, wrapped an extra time, wrapped around my bike frame (this one was a particularly bad idea), with the snaps on the poncho set narrower and wider…. No matter what I've tried, the poncho rides up as I'm cycling, and the top of my legs end up soaked. What am I missing? How can I use this poncho to keep my legs actually dry in the rain?
