The rear tire on my Kona hei hei always rubs when I land after even a small drop or jump. It’s like a brief but loud rubbing sound, clearly coming from the tire making contact with the frame. For whatever reason the previous owner put a rather wide rim in the back, which I think causes the tire (29×2.2) to actually bulge a bit and become wider than 2.2”, which I think is the root of the issue. I tried to include some pictures but it’s hard to get a good angle. Should I try getting an even skinnier tire, or do I have to replace the rim altogether?

FYI the time is a Stans Flow S1

  1. Make sure the rear axle is properly tightened. Definitely might just be the tires are too wide.
